There are lots of advantages and disadvantages of many differernt countries.

The first is to do with the work that you can do. The US has a lot of computer jobs as well as business ones. While the UK has far fewer computer related jobs. If you can't find a good job them your life will not be that good.

Then there is a the general work environment. A lot of people leave the US because they find the work environment very negative, while the UK is much better.

However both the US and the UK are very friendly to people from other countries (racism exists, but it isn't everyone, everywhere).

Big cities like London and New York have great night life, and most people leaving those countries find they miss the night life once they leave. London is a famous party town. On the other hand the south of England has good weather and friendly people. Of course northern and central california is famous for its "year round spring time".

If you are an engineer, especially civil or structural, then the easiest work opportunities to find are in Asia (example Thailand).

I would make the decision based on
1. Availability of work
2. Lifestyle that you want

Good luck
