You will probably need accounting classes . I was a night auditor at a hotel , but a comptroller needs to analyze all the A/P accounts in order to control expenses . You will need to be able recognize what each account means and if the expenses are justified .

I would first contact accounting agencies who not only will support you in landing a job as a comptroller but market you as well. IF you have the basics they need. If you don't they still might help you get the background/training to become qualified.
If you already have the background and able to market yourself I would post to "Position Wanted" sites, contact recruiters and submit your resume'.
Some agencies offer temp-to-perm positions as well as permanent
I used to do night audit and auditing & I loved it.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

For general career info: www.bls.gov/oco and can type into search 'comptroller' or 'controller'. They both have to do with accounting as others have mentioned.
And for US colleges and uni's: www.utexas.edu/world/univ
