i am currently employed by an orginisation and earn £36k p.a, i am considering doing a degree and hope to join my company's graduate scheme, however the starting salary is 24k. In this case would my employer honour the salary that i'd be earning as an exsisting employee or could they ask me to resign and re-employ me at the lower rate?

Hey guys I have a full time job and go to college but I'm still really low on money. I dont really have time for a full or part time second job, but I could squeeze in few extra hours late at night. Bartending fits perfectly but the problem is that I've never bartend before. Ive worked as a server and busser in many restaurants, and I know a lot of popular drinks. Does anyone think I can make the cut, or what do you guys thiink I should do to make myself more qualified

I'm going to my final interview in two days, but the problem is, I have a dentists' appointment already scheduled on one of the days that I said I'll probably be free for work. The thing is, my dentist told me that there might be some swelling for a few days so he advised me to get lots of rest and such, and stay at home if I can because I might need to take some medicine. If I tell my potential employer about this, is there a chance that this might affect my getting hired? When should I tell him about this? After I'm sure that I'm hired and we're working out my work schedule?

Also, I can't reschedule it because he wants to do the work on my teeth soon and he's fully booked on all the other days that I'm free.

I'm currently halfway through a Psychology degree. I love Psychology, I spend much of my free time reading about it, and although it is an overly popular major, it can be invaluable to those who are interested and insightful enough.

Yet, I've been overwhelmed by the current lack of jobs in the U.S. right now. I mean for most fields/majors. I see countless examples of highly qualified people waiting jobless for years, gambling on this or that opportunity.
I don't have specific plans for the future. I honestly have broad interests. I've been considering, halfway through my junior year, beginning a double major with Comp. Sci. I assume a CS degree would be worth the effort. But I am starting to wonder. Is it worth it to begin all that work now, at 20, and maybe not graduate until I'm 24? Or stay focused on my Psych. degree, try to graduate w/ honors, and capitalize by putting more effort there, and develop my personal skills (communication, even computer, etc.) I need some advice...

Two days back i had a meeting with my new boss. she was good we were discussing about the shifting of the room. Then during the two days time i email out to inform some of the staff about the shifting the room. And today she call on me asking me "From where did I heard that the room will be shifting".
Like as if she doesn't know it.. I had a talk with her boss and her boss informed me. I confirmed to her that her boss did inform me about this matter. The way she spoke to me as if I was deaf or heard it wrong. So to make her happy i told that it wouldn't happen again by emailing it out to all the staff once is really confirmed. She make me feel as if I was telling lies. She was the one who is telling a lie.

I hate working with people who like to tell lies and happy that they can get away with it.

I work at a small company. 3 people. Me-assistant. Other Owner and Manager. My boss, the Owner, has 75% more clients than the other manager in the office. My boss will tell me to do a task, such a send a package to a client or reschedule a meeting with a client. The Manager will question what I am doing and INSIST that I do it his way which is opposite than what the Owner told me to do. When I assert that I will do what I was told, the Manager sulks, slams his door, ignores me, or calls to tell his wife about the situation but speaks in Spanish, so I cannot understand him. I am not sure what to do. The Owner gets very upset with me when he finds out that I did not follow his instructions. Do I tattle on the Manager? They have worked together for 7 years and I have been here 3 months...

I'm 27 years old and I've been working at the same job since I was 19 years old and I work at a department store, I hve a very good work record and I haven't called in sick for 2 and a half years now.

I'm so frustrated right now. I am planning to start travel nursing again, hopefully next month. One (or actually 2) big things are in my way. I need 2 recommendation letters from an employer I left about 5 mos ago. I brought the forms down there week before last and left them for the people who need to do them, with instructions to fax them ASAP. Well, my travel nursing company still hasn't received them. I've called a couple of times and haven't gotten anywhere. It's the hospital's policy to just give the length of time you were employed, and how much you were paid. It's a JACHO (healthcare accreditation company) requirement for travel nursing companies to get letters of recommendation that address your clinical skills. I was hoping my bosses would do this without a problem, but I'm not getting anywhere. I don't know what to do at this point!

I graduated from law school in 2003 with a JD and MBA. Then, I passed the bar.
My complaint is that every job I've held since then has been very very boring and non challenging. I have not stayed with any employer for more than one year since 2003. I have held titles such as Corporate Counsel, Legal Manager, and Attorney. They are all just titles though....

I am currently with a large company. When they interviewed me last summer they promised large challenging projects, more responsibilities, and that I would stay busy. However, I have had nothing but down time since I have been there. I surf the web all day because there is nothing to do. I have brought this to my supervisor stating that I have nothing to do and management acts oblivious. I also know of four other people in my division who have nothing to do all day so they look busy when they aren't.

I hate to hop jobs alot...but what should I do?? I cannot sit there and not gain skills or relevant experience.

I will be graduating in December 2007 and am eager to apply for jobs in hopes to land an entry level position by graduation or soon after. However, although it is the middle of September would it be too soon to apply? I have been consistently browsing the government jobs and private organizations and as of now there are nearly 45 openings that I would apply and be qualified for just by reviewing the agencies requirements listed in the state I currently reside. I am eager and do not want to wait until the last minute, but at the same time I do not want to start too soon and have potential employers not take me seriously because I still have 3 months before graduation. However, I must also mention at least 90% of the jobs I am looking to apply for are "continuous posting" positions throughout SC that are standard entry level positions in the Department of Social Services that have been open month, after month, after month.
