I am really interested in working for the FBI when I get out of college. By the time I graduate from college I should have a BA in Theater, a BS in Information Technology with a concentration in Network Security and I hope to get a minor in Business. Any chance I can get in? Or at least get in to one of their summer internships ?

I have been working at my part-time job for 3 weeks. I do not like it at all. It is my first job of this type and none of my 3 supervisors respond to my emails or return my phone calls when I have questions. I do not know what I am supposed to be doing and I can't get any help.

My question is, if I find another job, is it absolutly necessary to give 2 weeks notice? I'm afriad if I give 2 weeks notice things will be miserable and awkward for those 2 weeks. Is it ok to just quit one day?

I've heard of hourly pay, and commission, but what is "competitive hourly" pay exactly mean?

Also, What's the difference between a Team/Crew Member and a Sales Associate?

Sorry, I'm a teen looking for a part-time job and I'd like to know these things!

Okay, Im 27 years old. I speak english, portuguese and spanish. I'm awesome with people, love working with electronics, love helping people out with computers (and whatever else they need).... I love travelling... I consider myself very smart. I learn very fast.. I am fast! I can overcome objections easily. Long hours of work doesn't bother me.

What type of work should I look for that brings good money in return?
Thanks guys.
RioGuy.

A girlfriend of mine has been looking for a job for about 9 months. She has been frustrated a lot, because she has a college degree and lots of work experience in her field. Recently, she became employed. She confessed to me that when she filled out the application, and was given a supplemental form that asked about her race - she lied. She now feels that may have been THE reason why she was hired. She now feels that because she previously marked herself as white/caucasian, that she wasn't hired. Now, she's claiming to be hispanic.

She's worried now that she could be fired for lying. Is she at risk to be fired? I know I've filled out similar forms, but never thought of lying. She's so freaked out, she keeps thinking of quitting before she's "found out".

I'm self-employed, so I don't know what would happen if her lie was discovered. Any thoughts?

I need a way to make some extra money & I figure I could do so by speeding up people's slow computers & making sure they have decent security.

I've come up with a list of things that I could do, but I'm looking for more suggestions.

Here's my list:

Optimization:
● Disable unnecessary startup apps & services
● Disable unnecessary visual effects
● Disable windows sounds
● Optimize TCP/IP settings
● Optimize paging file
● Optimize Prefetcher
● Reduce Recycle Bin & Sys Restore space usage
● Uninstall unnecessary/redundant apps
● Disable indexing
● Defrag hard drive
● Remove invalid registry entries and defrag it
● Scan hard drive for errors
● Remove junk data
● Scan for spyware

Security:
● Download latest software/hardware updates/drivers/etc.
● Configure automatic updates
● Configure firewall
● Install antivirus & antispyware
● Disable Windows Messenger
● Enable DEP

I think that covers it, but is there anything else I could include?

Also, how much should I charge?

Thanks.

I just got hired at a restaurant today (Sept. 14). Me and my family are going to Jamaica on Oct. 7. My new job orientation in in a few days. Should I have told them today when they hired me or at the orientation. Would they have not hired me if I told them I needed this time off? Will this make me look bad in the eyes of my employer? Help!!!

I'm trying to do something with my life, and I have narrowed my interest down to these three topics.

Which one do you think I should pursue?

Which one would be the best career choice? And, why?

Which one would I have the best chance to get a steady job in?

Thanks!

I was fired about a month ago due to attendance issues. One of the times that they claimed that I was tardy was due to coming in late on a worker's comp appointment because I didn't have a vehichle and had to take the bus. Is there anything that I can do? I'm sure that I can get records from my appointment backing up the fact that I was there and what time I left.

I was offered with the verbal agreement a part time 25 hour week position. As the interview progressed i was told i would need to work two 12 hour days though. I initially let her know I could not work more than 25 hours a week as I had Domestic and leisure activities to tend to. So now I'm unemployed. Are there any legal excuses I can tell a manger and get away with it? I've contacted the state labor boards and find no answers. Please assist me with this. Screwed in Oregon.

I've been there for almost 2 months. I still feel stupid when I have to ask questions about certain things. I always feel like I'm not doing things right or making mistakes. There's never enough help to do everything. I work at a pharmacy and I feel prescriptions, etc. and also work the register at the pharm. counter. I have to work soon today and I haven't been in since Sunday. I'm absolutely DREADING going in today and I'm getting all anxious over it. Should I find a job someplace else?

I went for an interview yesterday. Originally i went in for a telemarketing position knowing they had a secretarial/administrative position available. At first he said the position was filled and by the end of the interview I had the job for secretarial/administrative. I was shocked - I have the experience for this job somewhat but am feeling abit lost - today was my first day. Do I write a thank you letter to the employer as it seems like a family run small business and everybody is tight nit with eachother. Is there any websites to study secretarial/office politics and what is expected ?? I am so lost and yet really like the people there..i feel like I don't deserve this job even though I know i can handle it. And another thing, I'm 26 yrs old and because I'm petite and look between 19 - 21 yrs...I feel really small and look like the youngest in the company. It's a really important position and my first time having my own desk...I want to keep this job - HELP! Any advice pls

The job I really want is a Technical Support Person with regular work hours..all I have to do is review the manuals HR gave me and let them know by Monday...although I'm familiar with the product...I'd have to learn some electric and wiring set up...not to do it but to troubleshoot if someone called which would be set up like a procedural system...I'm figuring you should be able to learn most anything in 3 months...(my trial period)

The other job...well....I already know I can do it...Store Management....the hiring manager called back with a counter offer even after I'd given the courtesy call to refuse their offer...to be honest I've already given them their answer....I want normal working hours, I do not want a job to become my life ever again...and this being a new business venture...what happens if this man decides to bail.........Am I obligated to talk with this man....Haven't I shown professional courtesy?????

I have tried several different things, which all turned out to be work at home businesses or opportunities. I am only looking for a work at home JOB so I can be home with my kids and still have an income. I have experience in the Data Entry field, so anything within that range that pays an hourly fee would be a good start for me. If anyone has any advice, referrals, please help. Thanks

Has there been a time in your career that you struggled (lost had a job, had difficulty finding a job, etc.)? How did you handle it?

to another state where I really want to be. Money would be tight, but I've got a plan. My head is telling me to stay where I don't want to be and take the good job for the money, but my heart is telling me to make the move and start the new life where I do want to be. What's your advice? Thanks!
