I graduated from law school in 2003 with a JD and MBA. Then, I passed the bar.
My complaint is that every job I've held since then has been very very boring and non challenging. I have not stayed with any employer for more than one year since 2003. I have held titles such as Corporate Counsel, Legal Manager, and Attorney. They are all just titles though....

I am currently with a large company. When they interviewed me last summer they promised large challenging projects, more responsibilities, and that I would stay busy. However, I have had nothing but down time since I have been there. I surf the web all day because there is nothing to do. I have brought this to my supervisor stating that I have nothing to do and management acts oblivious. I also know of four other people in my division who have nothing to do all day so they look busy when they aren't.

I hate to hop jobs alot...but what should I do?? I cannot sit there and not gain skills or relevant experience.

I have always been told that good people make their own place in any company.... perhaps your management expects a bit of initiative from someone as educated as yourself. Haven't you observed anything that NEEDS doing?

I've also found (especially in large companies), it's sometimes easier to ask forgiveness than permission. Find a challenging project and go for it! They will likely think wow! that new guy really has it on the ball!

IF you're bored you shouldn't have gone into the legal field..just kidding. Try getting into more of a private practice with one or two other attorneys. Figure out what field of law you want to get into and go for a smaller company that might offer more work than a large corporation, maybe a smaller firm that you can intern for an attorney. Unless you go into private practice and open your own office you'll be forever at someone elses mercy. Remember, if you keep telling them you have nothing to do they might see a reason to not keep you if they figure they have no work for you.

What you should do is try to start a small business for yourself in this field and you can do it on weekends or so. You will never be bored again. Once you are kept busy on the weekend you might want to do less during the week.

Well, you do not have to work for a company; you could go into private practice or a government job.
