It may be time for me to make a job change and am not sure what direction I should go. I am in outside sales now for a company I have been with for three years and it's not really for me. I feel like I need to do something bigger, that helps people. How do you choose which way you should go?

I started dancing a year after school for almost 4 years. I haven't had much work experience out side of a small clothing retail job that I had from 16 to 17. I started dancing at 19 and I am 23 now. I also took a year off after my wedding and subsequent baby to be a SAHM and Army wife. I am wanting to get a job now and I don't know what to put on a resume. What do I say to make-up for the time block? I surely can't put EXOTIC DANCER in the box! I have found plety of resume builders on-line, but I don't know whatI can say!

Please no dirogitory answers...

I have a paralegal degree and I'm currently working for a small law firm. We've been doing a lot of health care work and lately I've considered becoming a nurse paralegal...but I think I'm at a disadvantage? All of the nurse paralegal training programs and job openings I've researched are for RNs with years of clinical experience. It seems Iike I'd have to quit my paralegal job, go to nursing school, then work as a nurse for years before I'd qualify for any of these programs.
I'm wondering about going to nursing school and then marketing myself as a paralegal with an RN degree, rather than a nurse with 6 months of paralegal training.
I have no desire to work in a clinical setting for years, but I want the education to make informed medical decisions in a legal background.
Whatcha think?

PS--no hate mail please: my sister, brother-in-law, and two aunts are nurses. I have nothing against nurses, it just isn't my calling.

Does it make much of a difference if you get fired or quit before you get fired? Its a year and 8 months later and I've had 2 jobs since then, one I just didnt like and the other was seasonal. Are they going to dig deep in all the jobs I've had? I still to this day have nightmares about what I did.

I was offered a position after a phone interview and a follow up second interview with two corporate managers. I disclosed a misdemeanor charge that may show up on a background check. I was subsequently offered an upper management position and I gave my two weeks notice. Now on the eve of my first day I receive a phone call from HR saying the job is not mine. Some questions about my background check. I disclosed the misdemeanor and was assured by the corporate manager that if the misdemeanor matches the background check. "no problem". Now I sit, unemployed waiting for them. I gave details of the offense and was reassured that they did not have a problem. What can I do legally? This is important to all those out there pondering whether to disclose a transgression. The background check confirmed what I had disclosed and now the reneged on their offer.

I work with a woman that owned her own business for 35 years (I hear this everyday). She is always trying to control and supervise her coworkers (me included). I actually have senoriity and I am relied on for more responsibilities. This woman is a tyrant. She calls her coworkers white-trash and idiots when she is with me. I have to listen her tell me that "No one around here knows sh*t." I have asked her to try and work with everyone. I have told her this is not like owning your own business, your working for someone else now. She is determined to get fired everyone she cant stand. She keeps a note book and if she thinks anyone is doing something wrong she sits in the office and documents everything. She is extremely controlling. She has the bosses backed off because she keeps threatening "Union". I don't know how I can keep from smacking her eventually.

Any advice?

There are 3 sales girls available. All 3 are well dressed. You don't have any other details to go on (such as how long they have been employeed there, ect) One sales girl is in her early 20's, one is in her early 30's and the other is in her early 40's. Would it even make a difference to you? Why?

I have no experience in Healthcare Admin, but I really want to get into this field. Any recommendations? I do have a BA Degree in Economics and Finance. I am half way through an MBA degree. All of my work experience was in the mortgage industry. I'm hoping for an entry level job making at least 40K. Is this feasible?

People who deliver in the UPS, Fedex, and DHL trucks, do they have to memorize towns or do they have GPS installed in the truck to make it easy? If there is no GPS, how hard is it to find your destinations without getting lost every 5 minutes?

I called IHOP to make sure they were still hiring for the position of server or hostess and the conversation on the phone was going quite well so I told them I'd come the next day to drop off my resume and fill out the application. A few days later the manager called me and said she put me on shift on Friday and Saturday. I didn't have to go to an interview and so on. I mean is this possible or too good to be true?
Also, in canada if we are under 15 we are suppose to have written permission from our parents before we work so the manager told me to get my parents to write one, but how come some of my friend who are a few months younger than me didn't have to. Kind of confused here.
Thanks.

My manager didn't honor the contract ie no medical insurance 50/50. He doesn't like to pay for materials that I use either.
Yesterday when I asked for money for materials he stopped the van in a hurry and looked for noises. My co-workers are nasty, one even arranged a phone call on Friday who was an imposter of the recruiter, saying that he was going to cancel my visa. This is because this guy is unqualified and horrible to everyone. He says "I'm the devil." and things like that, and tells me I have no life. The other new worker, says I'm in a ganster network all around the world and brushes her eyebrows with a toothbrush!!!! Yesterday the international people where I work said they don't like my company very much (neither do I!!!)
Im just about to "burst" with how I feel, as I've been holding it all inside. I'm almost too upset to work today.
Yesterday the auditors were in and the international guy was giving me such a hard time saying we're paid double anyone else, etc.

Some of my Hispanic "friends "say that because i wear hollister , abercrombie taht im either gay or trying to be white even though im mexican. They say i should dress like a "real" Mexican which i really think is stereotyping.Do you think that liking the preppy look makes me less of a Mexican? Also I am proud of my Latino heritage and I would never deny it.

Ok, so here's the problem: I really enjoy fashion and am considering a job at a retail clothing store or possibly best buy or a coffee shop. The problem is i have been applying and everywhere i have applied said they are only hiring for closing shifts which means getting out at 10:30 or later!!!! This wouldnt really be a problem but i dont have my license and i dont have money to pay for a car to begin with so the only way i can work is if i have my parents drive me and my mom REFUSES to pick me up later than 9:00!!! How can i explain this to an employer so i can get a job???? Please help me!!!

Thanks to everyone who answered!!!

I'm a manager in the IT industry. I would like to know how other IT managers handle job stress in this business...

So much of our jobs depend on others to be sucessful and many times other people have agendas of their own. Some agendas are self serving, but some of them are business.

In any case, how do you manage stress? I know that excersize and nutrition play a part, but I'm more interested in how you handle the mental demands. I know I can keep my emotions out of it and I know it's only business. But what do you do when no matter where you turn, you can not make progress?

Some days are good and some days are bad, but the days that are bad cause me to want to leave what is a great company.

Going to the director for help and support is not an option. Just Like in your companies, a sign of management weakness is the beginning of a slow career death.

I'd like some feedback.

What can I do about a co worker who's envious/jealous of me & caused me lots stress. I really like the company I work for, but gosh, this demon posessed-cow...LOL..has really got it in for me! She's a manipulating-2 face BEOTCH! I'm a hard worker. I do my job & want 2 succeed in it just like everyone else. Mad cow has been lying 2 my boss. Tells the boss I'm late everyday. That I'm hardly ever at work & that I don't do my job corerctly. All of those things are lies! Since I was promoted into her department. She was the cow who trained me. NO manuals! I knew right away! She tried 2 confuse me & set me up to fail. One day she would tell me how 2 do a certain task & the next day, she would tell me it isn't they she explained it. I began documenting everything. Her lies were exposed. Now she's accusing me of something else she has no proof of. Me & another coworker have spoken 2 our boss about her 2 mo.'s ago. She's done the same 2 the other coworker. She won't teach us anything more! Help

I've gone to job boards and it seems like all the jobs are offered by employment agencies. It seems like they just hoard all the jobs and make it MORE difficult to find a good one. I've wasted my time with 4 of them so far and I feel like I've been blackballed because I'll call to see if there's anything for me but the answer is always no.
Am I paranoid?
