Some of my Hispanic "friends "say that because i wear hollister , abercrombie taht im either gay or trying to be white even though im mexican. They say i should dress like a "real" Mexican which i really think is stereotyping.Do you think that liking the preppy look makes me less of a Mexican? Also I am proud of my Latino heritage and I would never deny it.

Tell your friends to Jupa Mi' Cola! (spelling???)

Seriously, what is dressing like a Mexican? How lame. I think you should do whatever you want. Including being gay. Which it sounds like you aren't. But who cares either way.

If you are going to be locked into the neighborhood and never leave it, keep the Chollo look but if you are actually going to have a life.... You can't let the small time peer group run it for your. Especially telling you how to dress and behave. I have lots of Chicano friends who still live where they grew up. But they have made the choice to become Mexican Americans and that means being able to do any *** thing that your want and dress the way you need to to make it in the real world. Good luck

no I don't think dressing how you want makes you any less Mexican. Your friends are being dumb. As long as you are proud of your heritage & know about your culture, it doesn't matter how you dress.

I think that you should make up your own mind. This is a free country - right? Do they pay your bills? Exercise your constituitional freedoms and be who you want to be.

Like you said, its stereotyping, and its a pretty stupid stereotype.Wear what you want, and if your friends are really ur friends, they wont care if you wear it.
