You could be lucky however the hours you are available will limit you somewhat - most supermarkets now are open long hours and 7 days a week. There are so many people looking for Monday to Friday in the day time - particularly mothers wishing to work during the school day. Generally speaking a little more flexibility is required for a job within the retail sector. The hours and days you are available would be more suited to an 'office' job - could this be an option for you? Good luck

It really depends on how badly they need help. It's certainly worth a shot to say that you can only work between the hours of 8am and 4pm and see what happens. I will say that employees that have more flexibility have a better chance of being hired because it makes a supervisor's job easier when they are making a schedule. However, since you are available to work all week, you may find that the store manager is willing to work with you. I say go for it and see what happens!

It depends on what they need for staffing. Many places are now having problems staffing their day shifts as there is a bit of a labor shortage in North America. Students can't work during the day and people with enough experience have moved onto better things.

It's worth a try, they only thing they can do is say NO? My question is are you getting paid for watching your grandson??? If not take the job and let your son/daughter find someone else to watch him unless he has special needs or something.
To get your foot in the door, you may have to say you can work at least one weekend a month. Can your son/daughter find someone else to watch the baby one weekend a month?

You will at the moment because shops are soon going to be taking on Christmas staff.
I has a saturday job while I was at college years ago, and I was there for four years so i gotto know the cysles. Around Septmber they would start advertising, and there were poepl that just did week days because at the christmas party, all these strangers would be there (I never saw them because I was only Saturdays!).
The Problem is, trying to get them to keep you on after christmas.

Generally speaking the busiest time in grocery is the weekend. Also everyone wants them off. If you are unavailable on the weekend you are not likely to get a job unless they really need help then.

I've never gone into a grocery store on the weekend and not seen employees. Unless they are willing to work with you not likely to happen.

Usually , the longer term workers have first choice of shifts and M - F days is their normal 1st choice .
However , depends on your area .
We have no way of knowing what that stores staffing is like .
Is there some reason you Are asking the people who don't know ,
And Not asking at the store who would know ?

I personally would not employ you on the grounds of being inflexible.
