I have somewhat of a problem, for about 5 months now, i have expressed what desire i have working for Ross and i have gone to every single store in my city and asked if they take applications, with no response. But today, i noticed that they are opening a new Ross about 5 minutes away from my house and that they are taking applications.
I don't have any experience in the retail buisness,I have only worked within security and the food industry for about 3-4 years now.And with this being a job i have wanted for MONTHS,and now my opp. is here i just dunno what to do. I know it's gonna be competetive and w/ me not havin any experience, i have to really stick out.I would love any positive help i can get, maybe you have something you on your resume?it's so frustruating cause i dunno how to reach out to them. The store hasn't opened yet, so i can't walk in there and talk to them one-on-one, otherwise i'd do that. But now they are judging me on my resume. What would you do/write?Plz help me!Thx

My company lost a contract that I was working on. They want us to stay on for the transistion to the next contractor. They said they want us to keep working on task and they will find us more work. Should I trust them and focus on task at hand or start looking for a backup plan?

I am currently employed right now but I am seeking to work elsewhere. I am doing this because of the lack of hours I am getting if any. Should I just keep looking then notify them once I receive a job or tell them now and keep looking?

I'm originally from Los Angeles and built an extensive career in the retail banking industry (executive management/training) and have been met with such dismal failure in finding a decent job here in the southeastern region of Michigan. I understand the job market here is somewhat dead, however can someone PLEASE shed some light as to which resources are the best in terms of finding a solid job that pays over $15/hr or a salary of $35K and above? Are there any good companies around here that I can actually walk into, hand in my resume and meet with someone?

My mom and dad both applied for Jobs on usajobs.com
my mom applied for a "contract specialist" and my dad applied to be a "secretary" in Aviano AB, Italy. The last day to apply for both jobs is in March 2008.
How long does it usually take until you know if they get the job?
And how good of a chance do they have of getting the job? It's overseas so I'm guessing less people would apply? Like, my mom has a very good resume, she's had expierience in contracting for 19 years and has many awards for her work.
My dad has had 10 years expierience....Do you think they can get it???? Thanks :)

I know that it would have been better to ask him in person, but my boss isn't really a people person-he's kind of shy and quiet, and he's very busy. For this reason I thought it would be easier to write him an email which he could answer in his own time explaining I will be working on my master's while working here full time which will help me with my career with this company and it would be a big favor to me etc. I sent it to him Friday afternoon, and my boyfriend said to wait a week, but it's Tuesday and he'll be in training for the rest of the week.
What should I think of this? I haven't given him a reason to not like me and I've been working my butt off this year finishing a project by myself, when I was budgeted to have another employee. I don't report directly to him, he's my boss' boss, but he knows all about my work. It's too soon to approach him and ask if he received my email, but I think if he was going to do it he would have at least responded by now.

I work at a new facility, and I was hired for a specific job which requires four years of college. In the healthcare field. And after I had been working at this facility for a month, they approached me and told me I had to take my own car and drive to other facilities to drop off specimens. The rumor was that anyone refusing would be fired. We complained because our car insurance would not cover us if we crashed (and this is during the over-night hours when you're tired, and there are drunks on the road, in a high crime city area). So now they gave us a company van and told us it would only be temporary that we would have to do this. But once again the story has changed and they are not hiring full time curriers or hiring on site staff to examine the speimens instead of taking them to other facilities.
My issue being that the bad weather months are approaching, and if there is a storm or icy roads, and I refuse to take these runs, can they fire me? i feel like i'm being used.

1) How should I dress? Suit or formal pant, shirt, and tie? Would a suit be too much in California? Remove the goatee or is it okay?
2) What types of questions will they ask me? For example, what types of teamwork questions and in technical questions will they just ask me "do you know this?" or will they give me a situation or problem and ask me how to solve it? The position is for a Handset Field Test Engineer-any of you having experience with this type of interview or know anything please give me any suggestions that would help me with my onsite interview. Your help is very much appreciated!!!

I just got offered a sales rep job from Vector Marketing and I have an interview coming up. I was wondering if anyone had any advice about getting a job with this company because there seems to be some skepticism on some websites I found, and I would hate to be another college student getting sucked into a scam.

I have been looking for a new job for a few weeks nnow and have been to a couple of interviews using the doctors/dentist excuse. The trouble is, I have been asked to go for an interview for an amazing job. And the interview is this Thursday!

The interview is at 4pm in London, so I'd need to leave work around 2pm (work is fuirther from London than home). I work in a REALLY small company - there are only 4 of us, and one girl is on holiday for the next three weeks, so when I'm off, there's only two people left!

Last month I in hospoital and was off work for three weeks, so I really don't want to push my luck with calling in sick. I have asked if they'll meet me after work, but 4pm is the latest they can do.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

I work in Virginia, and I am "at will employee" which says I can leave job any time I wanted. If I leave my present job without giving two weeks notice, will that affect my employment history? Will I pass security clearance if I have to apply for government jobs in the future?

thank you for your answers,
