Try Directory of Social Change they have a book called 'Roles & Responsibilities of a Trustee

Also, the Charity Commission website has lots of guidance for trustees. Although your social club will not be a charity, the committee members of a club will be trustees in law and so this info applies to them.

Ask the existing Committee members for a copy of the Constitution ... (or just discuss with them informally what they will expect you to do if you are elected).
