Definitely have a job lined up first. Your employer may decide to fill your current position before you find your job. After you find a job, last I heard, you'd ideally give 2 weeks notice, if possible.

Never tell your current employer you are looking ,
Until you have a firm job offer .
Then , a 2 week notice ( less if you are part time )
& be prepared for them to tell you
"you don't need to come in tomorrow" .
Make sure you have the $$$$ is savings to carry you over through to the next paycheck .
Telling them now will put you on the unemployment line and that will Not look good on your job apps .

There is a great possibility of you getting let go as soon as they find out you're looking for another job. They'll try to replace you as soon as they know you're looking to leave. Just put a two week notice in when you do find a new job, and that way you won't burn any bridges! You might need their positive feedback when a new employer wants to know about your employment record!

No, you should wait until you find another job. If you tell them now, they may get rid of you and you wouldn't have any income at all. Once you find something, you should communicate this to them and if possible, give them a little notice as a courtesy and professionalism. Good Luck!

Look first, find first, accept offer of employment first, then give two weeks notice. If you are fighting for hours now it will probably be worse once you tell the present employer you are looking.

It's generally not a good idea to tell your employer that you're looking for another job. They'll often let you go, and you may not want to be let go until you have another job lined up.

Wait until you have a job offer then give them at least two weeks notice to find a replacement.

I agree unless you got the final offer letter in your hand you should not disclose this. As once u disclose this consciously or unconsciously they will try to impose many things on you.
This is normal human tendency. So unless it is very very important this should not be disclosed.

I wouldn't tell them until you found a job and gave your two weeks. If you tell them while you're looking now, they may give you a hard time.....

Unless there's a really good reason to tell them, then don't.
Is there any way to get more hours? They probably are aware that you might leave.
