I'm being sent to an office job by an agency and I've never worked at an office before. They said the attire is "casual" or "office casual", what kinds of clothing is that exactly? Can I wear jeans? I was thinking about wearing jeans with a long-sleeve, button up dress shirt, would that be ok?

Hell 'n'-to-the-'o' to supermarkets where you can only start out as a courtesy clerk and fast food restaurants. I've had ~bad experiences~ with those type of jobs. And no to anything that requires me to do any type of physical activity outside. I am going through a medical treatment concerning my face and I am sensitive to the sun. I would REALLY like to work at a book store... but all of the ones that I've checked so far only hire at 18.

I'm done with food service and bagging groceries for ungrateful people; nope, not for me. I have no problem making drinks though.

Okay, so right now I'm studying in Animal Heath Technology. I am going to finish my program and probably work as a vet tech, but My main goal is to apply in veterinary medicine. Lately, I've been having second thoughts. My dream is still focused on saving animals, but wildlife has gotten a big interest in me. I was thinking of working as a Wildlife Rehabilitator or maybe even in Zootheraphy. Are they even in demand somewhere? Then again, my family doctor always said they'd see me with kids or as a nurse, so I was thinking of pediatricians. I don't know where I have my mind at anymore. I really want to save animals, but then again, I'm wondering if I'm not better off saving them by helping out at Shelters and giving them a new home?

Should i feel bad that this happened?
To put it short my friend and i graduated from law school. We applied to the same firm for jobs. However she is dating an older guy with connections and he got her a higher positionin the firm and i got an entry level one, i didn't begrudge her though.
However one year down the track i have been promoted several times and was at the same level as her (she never recieved a promotion) till recently when i was put above her.
She is now angry saying that i stole her promotion, i however don't feel bad for doing so, she had a whole year to prove herself and didn't advance at all.
Should i feel atleast a little guilty or not at all.
Why, Why not

i was angry at my jobs head head honcho for a stupid decision and in a moment of sleep deprived anger at 3:00 am, applied online for a job at a rival company. the next day (less then 8 hours later the other company contacted me and asked me to come for an interview that day. i did and now they want me to work for them. but it is a great distance from my home, the same pay and a lower position with no prospects for promotion. how do i get out of this without them getting mad and ratting me out to my current employer and leaving me without ether job?
i never expected them to respond to my brutally honest, unpadded and not that flattering application.

open the door for them, offer them coffee, water or a soda, shake their hand, and after their transaction or what ever business they are conducting, if it is raining out, they want us to escort them out of the bank to their car with an umbrella, I think this is a bit excessive don't you or am I just being unfriendly.

Does anybody else have this problem? Correct me If I'm wrong but aren't you suppose to get breaks usually one 15 min every two hours? Well I work at a place that is breaking the law, because we get a break every 3 hours!?

As for my question can I get fired for refusing to work overtime? This week we've been doing some hard labor working at a tire warehouse unloading trucks with 2,000 tires for 2 days and plus the general labor really makes your back hurt. Today we were suppose to work overtime and all the workers and myself said we couldn't and walked out and my boss was pissed off so bad. This is the second time we've done it but, there comes a point and time where enough is enough and you can't handle extra overtime. All my boss cares about is pleasing his customers and working our asses off, but when we ask for a raise he says we haven't eanrned it yet? My question is can we all get fired for refusing to work overtime, he can't punish all of us right?

I really want to have a successful career as an electronic engineer. I'm currently working as an electronic technician now, but I'm not happy with this job because it is mostly assembly work. When I first got my AA degree in electronics, I was a little curious about the field because there was such a broad range of things that you could do. I switched three jobs and I am on my fourth one now. I stayed at the previous jobs from 6 to 8 months each. I really want a component level testing job. That's why I'm thinking of quiting this one, but I worry that being an electronic technician is irrelevant to being an electronic engineer. I know that many engineers never had a trouble shooting background. I wonder if I should switch jobs or just wait until I receive my BA in about 10 months. I know it looks bad to jump from job to job.

Mr Buisness Owner. I know that if a person comes in looking for a job,and the grey hair is seen, That Individual has a poor chance of getting hired. I have come up aginst that quite a lot.

So if any additional new trades are now on your resume from some new job training,, along with the skills from previous work, and a person has spent all the cash to retrain, the fact still remains, that just because we are gray, over 55 move a bit slower than the young people, the chances are still aginst us any way, Right???

Do office clerks have less stress and more stable working hours? I dont like taking work home anymore. Its not required, but I have to in order to prep for the next day's lesson. I know as an office clerk, I have to deal with annoying coworkers, but at least I can try to reason with them or complain to management. With kids, I have to do some behavior management techniques which may take months to see some progress, plus I feel incompetent when my principal comes by to observe at a bad time when my kids arent settled. Are office clerks graded or critiqued every few months?

I like being creative, are there jobs that I will be good at , but dont have a lot of stress? How about a librarian or a school clerk?

Lets say you are an hourly employee, and you take a week of unpaid vacation off of work. Two weeks later, you get a paycheck denoting pay for the week of vacation that you took. You think that perhaps you did in fact have paid vacation, so you go ahead and cash the check, and spend the funds. The amount of pay for that week was approximately $500.

About a month and a half later, and after quiting the job, you receive a letter saying that you were paid in error by no fault of your own, and that the ex-employer is requesting installment payments of the amount overpayed.

Can the ex-employer require you to pay back the wages that they paid you?

Note: there was no foul pay on your behalf i.e. you did not fradulently report time or misrepresent your vacation status. Management was fully aware that you were taking time off work. All actions by yourself were made in full faith.

I have 30 more hours to get my degree in Accounting, but I really can't afford to go back to school. I am looking for a career instead of just a dead end job and I have been thinking of starting my own bookkeeping service. Just not sure which way to go, any personal experience in either field would be helpful. I appreciate any insight you could give! Thanks, Ronna
