i was angry at my jobs head head honcho for a stupid decision and in a moment of sleep deprived anger at 3:00 am, applied online for a job at a rival company. the next day (less then 8 hours later the other company contacted me and asked me to come for an interview that day. i did and now they want me to work for them. but it is a great distance from my home, the same pay and a lower position with no prospects for promotion. how do i get out of this without them getting mad and ratting me out to my current employer and leaving me without ether job?
i never expected them to respond to my brutally honest, unpadded and not that flattering application.

You just say . . ." thanks for the consideration but it does not fit with your plans / goals at this time ."

No need for so much drama , it was just a job interview .

Many successful people do ongoing job hunts / interviews in case a better opportunity comes along .

Chillllllll out !

you dont have to tell them about your current employer and i doubt they will contact them to tell them that you applyed if they were going to do that they would have already before they decided to hire you. just tell them that your suation has changed and you will have to turn down their offer.
