I am 15 years old and have had trouble with depression and have been in trouble with the law, I understand that this is the time to figure out what you want to be when you grow up. I have decided between two professions; A psychiatrist, to help out kids that suffer from depression, or a cop to help the community and to help kids not be drug users and make mistakes like I have. I need help in deciding, thanks all.

at becoming the controller. The owner has hired me to replace his girlfriend at a local dealership. But I make $35,000 and work 45-50 hours a week. They have told me there will be a significant raise within 6 months and I have this in writing as well. I will be replacing the owners girlfriend as controller. I am not sure how much of a raise they will give once I do become controller, however, I will have to work 8am-6pm Monday thru friday and 9am-5pm two saturdays out of the month. Is this all worth it?

I am a Junior in college working towards a Bachelor's degree in Biology and I've decided I want to work for a Biotechnology company.

Does anyone know of any such companies that hire for co-ops and/or internships? I know Genzyme does. And they have a branch where I live but I don't know if that specific branch hires for co-ops and internships, so I'd like to know about more companies.

I have been looking for a better paying job for the last few months. I get the interviews but I never get the job. I have my Associate's Degree and am going back to school to get my Bachelor's. (I can't go back yet because I have no money!) I know all the computer applications. I know how to be a secretary. Answering phones, I have done many times. Yet, still nothing. Is it all about the connections? Is it all about how someone looks?

I always get stuck at these really deadend retail positions. The ones where the managers are my age (22). Is this just because the demand for people with Bachelor's Degrees and even Master's Degrees?

....being a member of a Trade Union will answer all their employment problems?

I don't understand!
Everytime there is a question relating to employment, there is at least one answer to suggest that being a member of a Trade Union will solve all their problems....despite there being increasing levels of Employment law to protect the employee in the workforce.

I understand that there are some rogue employers out there...but why not just simply as the Personnel or HR Department! They can't just make a mockery of employees for the fun of it!

It makes me made that there is such an "us v them" attitude out there between employers and employees....

What do you think?

I'm genuinely interested to hear both arguments here!

I really don't understand what they mean by running my buisness at home. I don't have a buisness. I'm a server for crying out loud! Can somebody please tell me how these really works and if its really worth it so I can try it out. I don't want to hear fake testimonies.

I got offered a great job in DC almost 3 weeks ago because I did not want to move (no relocation was provided). The more I think about it, I think I made a mistake. I went online to the company website, and as of July 23, it looks like the position is still open. I was thinking I would call or e-mail the HR person I met with, or the hiring manager to see if it was in fact still open, and if I could get another chance if I explain why I turned it down in the first place...

what would you do? Is this a bad idea? Any suggestions on what I should do if the job is, in fact, still open?

Bosses, how do you handle it when one of your employees questions your work ethic.

Frankly this employee doesn't know what she's talking about. I have been on the clock seven straight days and am more than willing to work extra hours when necessary.

I also have 12 years of working experience in many different fields and I am highly skilled with computers and the internet. I have worked every job under the sun and still cannot make more than $10 per hour (the same wage I have made since 1996) the only way that I could make more money than that was bartending but I want to contribute more to society than serving drunks all night. I am now 29 years old and consider myself a responsible adult but I am slightly overweight which may be the reason that I can't get a job but I have always hustled just as fast if not faster than my co-workers. I live in Florida and wondered if that had something to do with it. I just feel that no matter how hard I work (sometimes putting in 3 years of nose-to-the grindstone) I still cant make more that $10 an hour. Will some employers out there please explain this to me?

I'm 22 years and have been a CNA for 4 years and just finished nursing school. I take my boards in mid august. Most people at work are extremely happy for me. But a few have changed toward me and are negative about everything. Especially this one nurse who has been an LPN for 7 yrs and failed out of an RN program. She constantly makes my life miserable there. I have two job offers...one at my current place of work with better money and bad hours and another at a very nice facility with a little less money but great hours (and no negative people there). I dont want to leave my place of work cause I love most ppl I work with and my patients, but I just cant deal with the negativity anymore. What should I do? Im so confused and dont know what to do about the mean ppl at work and my two job offers. How can I deal with her?

I've been interning for the past 3 months learning about technical sales, and now I need to present what I've done, and leave my audience (big wigs within the company) with something extra to remember me by. The suggested medium is of course, powerpoint, but I hate powerpoint. It's so blah.

Any creative presentation ideas?

Hey guys...I'm kinda scared because I got hired at a clothing retail store about a month ago...showed up to each day on time and did my work....but lately some stressful stuff has taken place (with girls--I'm 17 years old), and I guess it got to me. I was scheduled Saturday (yesterday) at 8 AM to 2 PM. I thought that I was scheduled for TODAY at 8 AM, so yesterday I didn't show up, and when I woke up today and went there, the manager was like..."Are you scheduled today?" And I was like, "Yep, 8 to 2". She then proceeds to tell me that it was yesterday and that it's OK that I didn't show up, just next time make sure to get the schedule right....but I'm still sort of scared. I'm the youngest person that works there, and I don't really need to jeopardize my position. I really don't know what the heck happened.....some words of comfort?

I just finished my first year in the audit practice at a Big Four firm. This sounds nerdy, but I absolutely love it! Despite the long hours and the horror stories that everyone had told me, I have been pleasantly surprised and genuinely enjoy my clients, the fast-pace environment, the different industries, working in teams, and the technical accounting issues. There are definitely some less exciting parts of the job, but I feel that the benefits significantly outweigh those things. I don't know if I want to go the partner route, but I am really looking forward to being an audit senior in a couple of years. However, I have found that it is tough to differentiate yourself at a Big Four firm because almost everyone here is highly motivated and an overachiever. That said, I was curious if anyone with experience out there had any advice for someone who is relatively new to the public accounting industry. What can a second-year auditor do to stand out?

Okay I have a group interview at the Abercrombie & Fitch Flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York on Monday at 5 p.m. The other day when I was I their offices filling out my application I overheard some group interviews going on and i have gone on group interviews for other stores, but i am still so nervous. Can you give me an idea of what to do and what the interviewers will like and what kinds of questions to expect. I am a pretty good ad-libber and am outgoing, but I'd still like to know what to expect. I already have what I'm wearing picked out--a navy Abercrombie & Fitch polo shirt and navy and yellow madras shorts from Abercrombie & Fitch, and I already got my hair cut nice and neat, but still I'm nervous--PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

I graduated BS Nursing in Philippines 12 years ago, worked there as a lic'd RN for 9 months then came here but ended up working as a clerical staff for the whole 11 years.

Now I want to go back to becoming an RN. I have been attending review classes at Kaplan Review Center in prep for the RN licensure exam but I feel that its not enough for me. Its so hard to dig up the knowledge I learned 12 yrs ago.

I feel I need something more intensive than a review course, but less intensive than re-taking the whole BSNursing program.

What do I do? Where do I enroll in classes like that? De Anza College in CUpertino CA offers an RN refresher course but its only for RN who are already licensed here in CA.

I appreciate any advise you can offer me. Thank you.
