I am a temp right now and getting hired (finally) on Aug 13. But now that I know I am hired I've realized how bored I am with the job. I am challanged, dont get me wrong, but I am sick of the ride and just bored bored bored with doing the same tasks all the time. What can I do besides getting yet another new job?

I can't seem to stick anywhere (be it because I am a temp and the job ends or I just get sick of the place.) I am college educated and have a degree in Professional Writing, but there are no jobs in my degree where I live.

What I am trying to ask is how do you start a career without going to school? I mostly have skills as a mechanic working in a tire store and working as a Bradley mechanic in the military. I don't want to work as a mechanic anymore. I had a job as a technical support agent but that job was too stressful. I love computers but without a college education I really can't work with computers. I attended Digipen for 2 semesters but don't have anymore money to attend. I have to go back into the Army because I have applied to over 150 jobs and haven't been hired for a single one. I have had lots of interviews but no one has given me a call back. I know what I want to do but don't have the money for it. I want to make video games, write novels and stories, even make films. I don't know where to start. I am 29 years old and need to find a job where I can make my living. Any responses will help.

Thanks.

My boyfriend was so sick he did not hear the alarm and basically slept all day, he was awaken by the cleaning crew who takes care of our building, later we found out that his job called the police to check if he was home, and his boss came by and also pounded on the door. The next day he went to work only to be fired. The HR told him he was an excellent, and talented employee but he could just not call in. He tried to explain that he did try to call his boss on his cell when he work up later that day. The HR in so many words called him a lier. Is this legal? Can this be considered work related harassment?

I am stupid for deciding to become a casino dealer when I was 21 years old. I started out working in the casino cage making $9 hour thinking to myself this will never get me anywhere I need to make more money than this. I began to talk with dealers that worked there and they told me this is a great job you make great money for playing games all day. I was naive I was seeing dollar signs before my own happiness and began to go to school for it

2 months later I got my first dealing job at the Claridge making approximately $15.50 tips and $4.00 base. Things were ok I seemed to like it for a while. BUT this business began to rear its ugly head. Mandatory Holidays and Weekends, Unfair Callout Point Systems, Aggressive Supervisors, NO benefits ( work 40 hours and they still call you part time) NO chance for promotion (When youre hired for part time dealer, thats pretty much all you will be for as long as you work there) Bad Schedules with different time starts and different days off every

I don't know what my passion is.. I don't know what I want to do in life.. All I know is I hate working in manufacturing, that's nothing to be proud of and I dread going in to work every day... I'm misserable in this and many other areas of my life.. this is one I'd like to start fixing as soon as possible though.

(Sorry for bad english.)
I think I wanted to be a chef. But I'm not sure that I really wanted to be or not. You know they said you won't know until you know that you are or you are not. I can't experience my self so I'm not sure that I really want. I'm kind of afraid that It could be a mistakes.

They say Chef is job for only hardcore. I'm kind of soft person. Even though I'm man. I'm not sure that I like cooking. I mean basically I like cooking than most of other thing. And I'm good at cooking. But I'm not that sure about make a living for it. There's only two career that I wanted to be and I know that I'm good at. Mentall Therapist or Chef.

I'm confused. I don't even know my favorite color. How can I choose my career? They say if you really like it, than your heart beating fast but I don't know what it is. Yeah, my heart beating fast when I work out!

Well anyway, The question is simple. What it likes to be a chef?

so i'm in the process of interviews for a new job.
there's 1 that sounds ok but i know the commute & it was part of the reason i left my last job. i'd actually have to pass my old work to get to this place...not sure if that's something i want to do. they also have another office in my hometown that i'd be at 1 day a week...if it was the other way around that'd be different.
there's another that i applied to 12 days ago & haven't heard back from yet (yes, i am hopeful). it pays considerably more & is closer to home.
with my dad getting older, i'm very concerned about his health (he lives downstairs from me, can barely see out of 1 eye & had a leg amputated a few years ago...oh yeah & he hit my car a month or so ago when he was going to park in the driveway...his truck was altered so he can legally drive...)
so the distance & commuting time does play a huge part in my decision. i need to be able to get here if there's an emergency

I'm in half way through High School and I just started thinking about what I should do with my life and I don't know what. I want some input from everyone to see whats going to be in demand in the next ten years. I have no talents that I can think of, except that i'm pretty good with technology and interested in it. I like science and media also. What should I get a degree in?

I am 46 years old and have been out of the 9-5 world since my children were born in 1991. I have 2 years of college but no degree and that was almost 30 years ago. I have experience gained from serving on committees, etc. that were voluntary positions but positions even thought not paid. I am very organized and capable of many tasks. How do I persuade someone that I can do the job, etc.

I have had 2 weeks to prepare for mine and it is happening tomorrow morning, yet I still feel like I'm not ready. I have been going over possible questions that they might ask and coming up with answers, etc. I did this last time too with my last interview, and even though it did help a little, I still messed up on one or two questions and was so annoyed with myself. I'd like to hear other peoples experiences too, would put me at ease a little, especially to know that I'm not the only one who has botched things up on the day no matter how much preparation!

There are lots of tools out there that are supposed to help you to find your professional calling - e.g., what color is your parachute, the myers-briggs personality inventory, the strong interest inventory, etc.

What do you think is the most useful and accurate? Anyone have any data on which has the most effectiveness on helping people to figure out what career path to pursue?
