I am a temp right now and getting hired (finally) on Aug 13. But now that I know I am hired I've realized how bored I am with the job. I am challanged, dont get me wrong, but I am sick of the ride and just bored bored bored with doing the same tasks all the time. What can I do besides getting yet another new job?

I can't seem to stick anywhere (be it because I am a temp and the job ends or I just get sick of the place.) I am college educated and have a degree in Professional Writing, but there are no jobs in my degree where I live.

I work at a hardware warehouse in the purchasing department....and although the people are great I spend most days on this just trying to not go nuts. But I would feel bad leaving them because then they'd have to train someone else.

To be hoonest I took the job because I needed it, and nothing else I interviewed for in the months before it would take me. There was no real interest there in the front end...just that I finally had a full time job again. And when I get hired here my hours will go down from 40/wk to 34/wk due to desk space....so I'll get a raise but still make less money in the long run.

There are a few ways you can look at your current situation. Perhaps once you begin full time, you will take on more responsibility. As a temp, a lot of companies dont want to give you too much, they give you just enough to see how you can perform. So with that said you can wait another month or so and see what happens. Do you like this company? Do you like the people? The first day you walked in the door, is it somplace you could see yourself long term? If you could answer yes than I would wait it out.

On the other hand, if you truly want to work in your field you have to do what is best for you. If you have the ability to relocate to where the jobs are, could/would you? Also, as someone with writing skills you have a great skill any employer would die for. Most employees now, rely on spell and grammar check, writing is a dying skill. Have you looked into medical organizations writing journals or reports? PR to write press releases?

I guess you could investigate varoius industries to determine what career paths rely on writing, and try to get into your field that way (if you have not done so already).

Make the best of your current situation and good luck!

if you don't want to get a new job, you can fix your current one. for example is there anything that a co-worker does or your boss does that interests you? talk to them about it, its more then posible that they might think its the most boring thing in the world in which case you can mostlikely take it off thier hands. leaveing both of you happier, and that also makes you look very good when review time rolls around. if all elts fails talk to your boss see what they can do. maybe they can get you similar work in a different seting, such as field work if your in the officer, or office work if your in the field.

If you truly are bored then talk with your boss maybe they can give you something more challenging to do . also why not try writing a book in your spare time since you have a proffesional writing degree . dont quit this job though untill you have talked with your boss and see if there is something more there . good luck .

I suggest that you get another job before quitting this one, for security but by all means move on. Good luck.
