Okay I have a group interview at the Abercrombie & Fitch Flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York on Monday at 5 p.m. The other day when I was I their offices filling out my application I overheard some group interviews going on and i have gone on group interviews for other stores, but i am still so nervous. Can you give me an idea of what to do and what the interviewers will like and what kinds of questions to expect. I am a pretty good ad-libber and am outgoing, but I'd still like to know what to expect. I already have what I'm wearing picked out--a navy Abercrombie & Fitch polo shirt and navy and yellow madras shorts from Abercrombie & Fitch, and I already got my hair cut nice and neat, but still I'm nervous--PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

What's said above is true and important. Just to add on, they don't sell black so don't wear it to the interview. Also, flashy jewelry is a NO-NO! They stress a natural look.

From a current A&F model...

The most important part about the interview is to BE YOURSELF. Be honest, and friendly/outgoing. The most important aspects of the brand are to have lots of energy/charisma, to be outgoing, and to represent the brand well. Don't try to make up answers or try to answer what you think the interviewer wants to hear. That's the fastest way to not get hired.

Your appearance is important. You need to 'look' the brand of casual luxury. You must be clean cut (no crazy nail polish--none is best), show your face (tie up your hair), and preferably wear no black. Go for 'casual cute' rather than sexy. Wearing A&F clothing is a plus (for my interview I wore a blue A&F polo and a white Ruehl skirt), but as they will bore into you, wearing A&F clothing is merely OPTIONAL. Although almost everyone uses their discount to wear lots of A&F merch, you merely need to wear similar styles without any obvious competitor logos showing.

As for the questions... I got asked something along the following:
"Why do you want to work for A&F?"
"What look do you think A&F strives for?"
"Can you tell me a time where you created diversity?"
"What is your definition of diversity?" (they want to stress diversity)

This, along with a simple introduction and something interesting about myself + a description of work from the interviewer was mostly what the 30min interview was about. I only had one other person interviewing with me.

If you have lots of people in the interview, make sure you speak on every question eagerly. Don't just sit there... be proactive, smile a lot, laugh/be easygoing, and show interest in the other interviewees. I would suggest chatting them up before the interview starts-- it's really impressive if you can reference them by name in the interview. Remember, being friendly is crucial.

Good luck, and remember to smile and be interested in the job genuinely!

The best way to deal with this is to practice. Find a couple of friends who are business people and have them practice giving you a group interview. You will be amazed just how much a little practice helps.

i worked at AF and all the questions are pretty much the same...if youre applying for the model position.
1-how would ur friends describe ur personality and what is ur strongest characteristic
2-what does diveristy mean to u and do u think it is important in a workplace
3-why do u think you will be successful at AF
4-describe AF style
5-do u think AF sets itself apart from other retailers and how
6-why do u want to work at AF

something like that...just be outgoing.
