I have a new telemarketing job. My boss said at the interview they would guarantee me a bonus of £150 pcm for the first 3 months, based on me getting around 15 appts per week for the reps and making 150 calls pw. The computer system, which I am not trained on, crashes at least 20 times a day, I have no idea of prices or how to process new orders etc, yet he has now told me that they are only paying the bonus for my first month (I have been there 3 weeks), and next month I have to make 480 calls, get 24 appts, generate 30 quotes and ensure at least 8 new accounts are opened / new orders are made to get the money, with no commission on any orders I take, nor on sales gained from appts.
Is this normal for a telemarketing role, and if so, how on earth do I ensure people place orders?? I don't know what to say when ringing people to follow up quotes etc. to make sure they order - do I pass them to the sales team mid flow, or try and blag it?? No one has time to train me in sales. Help!

i'm at the end of my rope. i don't know what to do. i don't know what i can do.

my work history sucks. i can't find a job anywhere. i'm not even having luck with staffing agency's. my last position fired me in december and the reason they gave was fishy. in march last year, i was fired from a position that i absolutely loved because of an inappropriate e-mail that was sent around the company.

so basically, i was fired twice last year, i have a crappy work history, very expensive rent, no one to help me and i can't find work.

i don't know what to do...where to go. does anyone have any advice? and don't bother posting if you're just going to say "hang in there, things will turn around."

I'm not even talking about financing the "re-education" portion of it, I'm talking about trying to figure out how to afford the 50% or more paycut.

Right now I'm a Senior Software Analyst and I've been seriously considering going to school for education. Since I have no college degree at the moment, I'd definately be committed for the 4+ year stretch, but I can do it part time and pay for that as I go and continue working, that's not an issue.

The issue is that when I actually **** careers to education I'll be going from the highest paid to one of the lowest paid career options on the board.

I'm sure that seems completely senseless to some but you have no idea how agonizing it is to be forced to continue doing something you have no passion for simply because it's the only thing you can think to do that earns as much money as it does. And with the added requirement of a wife and children, simply "cutting back" isn't exactly a "long-term" solution.

I've heard go "one up" from what you would wear on the job, I've also heard "when in doubt, wear a suit." A suit really seems like overkill for an amusement park. What would you wear?

I have a job that pays well but is boring and does not make me happy. To get the job I really want, I will need to go to grad school full-time for 3 years. I am 30 and want to get married and have kids and buy a house soon too and obviously I can always do this after grad school, but 3 years seems so far off! Maybe I should just be happy that I HAVE a job and forget grad school?? I am soo confused!!

I'm a recent college grad. My current resume is 1 page. I've been told for years that unless I had a resume for a specific position, resumes should always be 1 page! So why do they charge over $100 to write one for me?! Has anyone found it to be worth the cost?!
