Does anyone know where I can find info on cost associated with hiring new employees, i.e total costs?

I was told by a person working in the HR dept of a very large company that it cost them about 3,000 dollars just to hire someone and get them past their ninety days. That's why they have gone to seeking new employees from temps, and other outside resources. I guess it makes good business sense.
