I have a new telemarketing job. My boss said at the interview they would guarantee me a bonus of £150 pcm for the first 3 months, based on me getting around 15 appts per week for the reps and making 150 calls pw. The computer system, which I am not trained on, crashes at least 20 times a day, I have no idea of prices or how to process new orders etc, yet he has now told me that they are only paying the bonus for my first month (I have been there 3 weeks), and next month I have to make 480 calls, get 24 appts, generate 30 quotes and ensure at least 8 new accounts are opened / new orders are made to get the money, with no commission on any orders I take, nor on sales gained from appts.
Is this normal for a telemarketing role, and if so, how on earth do I ensure people place orders?? I don't know what to say when ringing people to follow up quotes etc. to make sure they order - do I pass them to the sales team mid flow, or try and blag it?? No one has time to train me in sales. Help!

Start looking for a new job. You are working for a bunch of ( bad words). Sorry, but they are trying to muck you around, not worth staying there. I would also recommend stealing all their paper clips. That'll teach them. Unless you get arrested, then it just makes you look insane.

You are clearly making the calls for a home improvement type company. They are renown for not being totally up front with you. If you intend to stay there, the first thing you must do is to keep a record of all the appointments you make. At a later date you must re-phone them to establish their position. It may be that the sales rep called and as he couldn't close the sale has reported that they were not there etc. On many occasions you will find that the customer has bought and had installed the product the company says was not sold.
AS LONG AS YOU KEEP ON TOP OF IT THEY SOON REALISE THAT IT IS NOT WORTH TRYING TO SCAM YOU!!

Seems that you have no option but to bail as soon as you get your paycheck. This sort of cowboy operation was killed of years ago but I was wrong, must be windows or home improvement of some kind tell them to stick it.
