What about the workplace in general?

Currently I'm a student, and looking for a decent part time job.
I've had some jobs in food service, and two month in construction. The only decent job I had was in the military (mechanic), but it has nothing to do with the job I'm trying to apply for now. (I'm applying for a bank teller)

I am taking a new position in the company and my boss and the director of the office where I am currently are starting to treat me badly. I would just let it go but I have to work with them on future projects and really want to get to the bottom of why this is happening. I want to approach them in a professional manner but don't want it to interfere with the position that I will be taking. My boss is being really sneaky and underhanded and going behind my back to the director with lies. What should I do?

I work for a babysitting company. I set my own hours, and get sent on jobs by my boss if the time slot fits my hours. I get payed $16 /hr in cash and must turn in $4.5/hr at the end of the month. She claims I am an independent contracter...am I, or am I an employee?

i work in an office where the lunch time fluctuates; some take more than an hour lunch, others take less. i go work out or play basketball during my lunch hour and sometimes i can go over 1 hour. will my boss be bothered by this? he hasnt said anything and the atmosphere at my work place is pretty laidback.

Hi when you leave a job before giving your weeks notice and you obviously wont get paid the week you worked in hand, But the letter you wrote saying why you where leaving, where does that go when the manager has read it. Do they just bin it or do they have to send it to head office or something.
Im just wondering because i worked for this company for a few months and everyone who previously worked there had left, and it was me who was new and another girl left and then the managers go a load of new people. But they where being picky at me and make loads of comments to me which i though were unfair and disgraceful So i decided to leave and not go back and i worte in my letter to them that i didnt like the comments they where making about me. And funnily enough all the managers have left now and new managers are there.
I was just windering if the letter people right to comfirm why they have left go to head office and could this be why the managers have moved jobs.

Hi, what would you do if you left a company because of the managers and if you like your job and found out that they were not working there anymore would you go back and try and apply for a job with the same company. Obviusly someting had gone on in the company for them to leave which they made the shop a horrible place to work in and which is why i think nearly everyone left.
The manager in the interveiw told me if she caught me chatting on the shop floor i would lose my job, So obvoulsy i was on probationary period and didnt want to do anything wrong, So i didnt really chat much when they where around even though they would chat to the other girls. and then they use to moan at me for being quiet but if i was talking they would still moan. Anyways what are your veiws on this situation, the job was good and the staff where good to get along with it was just the manager.

Also there is another job going its a traning in a day care nursery. I worked there once before and like it but

It seems that at my company, the females who walk around and smile and laugh all the time are constantly recognized by upper management. These "bubble heads" come in late, leave early, take long lunch hours, call in sick all the time and put in for overtime they don'treally work and get away with it - all because they smile at the bosses constantly. The real workers are rarely recognized. If only I could become a "bubble head" but it's in my nature to work hard. Any comments on this?

HI, I have a job interveiw tomorrow, the thing is for some reason i really do not want to go to it, Its nothing big is for a company that developes photographes. I was excited last week about going to the interveiw and this week i just have a funny feeling and i really dont want to go to it. Its for a part time vacancy 16 hours a week national minium wage. But i just cant make myself get excited about wanting the job which was werid as i wanted to go last week and even rang to confirm i was going. I dont want to get there and have a panic attack. The thing is i hate when they ask you why you want to work for them, But the thing is if you need a job you will apply for any yu are qualified for. So when they ask me this i dont even know what to say and i think this maybe why i dont get the jobs. Even if i research the company i dont remeber nothing about it when i get to the interveiw, and you cant even prepare your self for an ivterveiw because sometimes they dont even ask a question you

So today was my first day working at a car dealership... as sales.. NO ONE wanted to help me, no one would talk to any of us new people. I was supposed to be paired up with another guy and he just left me behind, talking to customers, disappearing for a while, etc without me there. Why would they do this?

I recently applied for a police officer position about three months ago, we took an entrance written examination. Well I know I definitely failed, I'm not a good test taker at all and I didn't understand some of the information. One of the tests you are just unsure about. Anyway, I didn't receive my "results" but got scheduled for a medical screening/psychological screening saying I have "advanced"... is this a good sign? as I have a few friends on the department as well... what do ya think?

ANd you don't have the speaking skills that other people your age have built up since they were kids. For example me, i suck at speaking. I try to speak but nothing comes out correctly.. i stutter, i get red, and the few times i've gotten interviews i fail miserably.

I've failed for 1 year at job searching, what can i do? My city has no Career counseling center. ALl they have is a Work resource center for using cmputers to find jobs.. that doesn't help me much

They discriminate people's accents, they discriminate on disabilities, discriminate on speaking skills. I don't get it. And many times they say "WE"RE AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER" but it's all bs.

I haven't gotten a job from them in 1 year , with me calling every week and at times 2 or times per week, inquiring about positions listed in their website for positions that I know i can do.

I'm hispanic and for some reason i feel like they hate me. Also, i'm not just signed up with 1 agency, i'm signed up with 4. And i have computer skills, problem solving skills, am Bilingual.

Why would they discriminate people? Is this fair
