So today was my first day working at a car dealership... as sales.. NO ONE wanted to help me, no one would talk to any of us new people. I was supposed to be paired up with another guy and he just left me behind, talking to customers, disappearing for a while, etc without me there. Why would they do this?

Competiveness! Car sales are far and few between today. Would you give up a sale to some new guy? That would be the same thing as outsourcing.

Because they don't want you to learn the art of selling cars, silly! If you start to make sales on cars, that means that your coworkers have one less car sale on their record, and it also takes away from their income.
