I am taking a new position in the company and my boss and the director of the office where I am currently are starting to treat me badly. I would just let it go but I have to work with them on future projects and really want to get to the bottom of why this is happening. I want to approach them in a professional manner but don't want it to interfere with the position that I will be taking. My boss is being really sneaky and underhanded and going behind my back to the director with lies. What should I do?

If you think you are being treated unfear or badly as you mention then ask why are they acting that way with you, dont be hostile, or aggressive, just speak politely, if they ignore and continued then go to your HR first and ask him or her to intervene and if there is no change then your next step is the general manager, and saying this to say that conduct your self in a responsible manner that the fault will be seen on your offenders and not you.

Your present boss and the director are probably upset because you are leaving them. However, it's important that you maintain good relationships with them since, as you say, you will be working with them in the future.

I would suggest that you make an appointment to speak privately with your boss and director, and tell them politely that you've noticed some change in their attitude toward you, and you'd like to leave with good feelings. Tell them you're looking forward to working with them in the future, and that you have the company's best interests in mind. Tell them also that you have enjoyed working with them, and the reason you're leaving has nothing to do with any dissatisfaction with them. (I presume you're leaving to advance in the company, and that there are no underlying problems that you know of with other employees or with the bosses themselves). These comments should make it easier for the bosses to open up and indicate to you what their problem is. But be sure until you leave, to do the best work you can, not visit with other employees, or act like you can't wait to get out of there, even if that is the case. Because that will not look good for you, and if you are at fault in some way, be sure to take steps to correct the situation. Good luck to you!

Work places are all about competition. Your boss is "prolly" feeling threatened because you are taking up a new position, which I'm guessing is a promotion. Don't take it personally, it's just business. What you should do is up the ante, and become a better person and employee than these folks are and you will climb the ladder a lot faster. The above are some of the reasons why I prefer running my business rather than being an employee.

Tell your boss how much you have enjoyed working with him and how what you have learned will help you in your new position. Thank him for giving you the opportunity to better yourself. Smile, shake his hand and go back to work.
