Is this a good sign, yes or no?

I recently applied for a police officer position about three months ago, we took an entrance written examination. Well I know I definitely failed, I'm not a good test taker at all and I didn't understand some of the information. One of the tests you are just unsure about. Anyway, I didn't receive my "results" but got scheduled for a medical screening/psychological screening saying I have "advanced"... is this a good sign? as I have a few friends on the department as well... what do ya think?

it takes lots of time and money for them to do polygraph and a psych test. trust me, if you failed the first test, they are not going to waste their time doing that.

Good sign, unless you are a qualified-minority classification and/or have english as a second language. And then it still may be a good sign, but for some jobs in some agencies, policy is to allow failed exams for those determined to be disadvantaged by background as an "affirmative action" type of programming. Similar to the physical tests for female applicants to police and fire protection districts being about 50% of what men have to do to pass.

I think you're cool though. After all, you don't really *know* you failed, right?

Good sign. Those kind of tests usually cost money, and companies wouldn't waste them on all applicants, just the few who "made the cut"
