It seems that at my company, the females who walk around and smile and laugh all the time are constantly recognized by upper management. These "bubble heads" come in late, leave early, take long lunch hours, call in sick all the time and put in for overtime they don'treally work and get away with it - all because they smile at the bosses constantly. The real workers are rarely recognized. If only I could become a "bubble head" but it's in my nature to work hard. Any comments on this?

Yeah, you should look for a new job.

It's not like that where I work...quite the opposite, in fact. Anyone (of any gender) who doesn't take their job seriously is not only not promoted, but usually terminated.

That said, I suppose I should get back to work. :)

Probably becasue they're noticable, as the people sho sit there and quietly do work aren't. Also, bosses tend to like suck-ups because it makes trhem feel more in control.
Sadly, this is the way the world works... It sucks!
