I've recently started working from home and find it really difficult to get motivated. I don't have much work on at the moment and I have highlighted this to my boss. If i was in the office i would be 'looking busy' but when i'm at home there's not much point! However, I feel really bad if I go off and do other things and am constantly checking my email in case something crops up, any tips for dealing with the guilt of watching day time television/watching copious box sets of 24?!

I just started working as a student aid in New York. i'm not on financial aid or any other form of tuition support, nor workstudy, but i am tax exempt. i was told that i would be paid minimum wage which is $7.15 in NY. I would like to know, will i get paid all $7.15 per hour, or is there some kind of loop hole the university is goint to use in order to decrease my wage to $5.15, which is the federal minimum wage. Don't tell me to go and ask.

I was terminated from my job due to medical issues and a temporary medical disability (yes, I have contacted the EEOC, etc.) and I applied for unemployment. My claim was denied because they said I failed to notify my employer of my absence, which is a lie. I have proof that I did notify them every step of the way.

I am filing an appeal with the unemployment board and I was wondering if any of you out there have been successful with an appeal and what I should expect at my hearing? Any advice or tips would be wonderful. Thanks!

So today I had an interview, personally I think it went well....she told me herself that she thought I was a very good candidate and did very well at the testing. However, she notified me it is company policy to contact a previous employer for reference. But she did go into full detail about the job and was even telling me when the trainer would be back to see when I could start. I know that a previous employer is only supposed to give dates you worked....but if they give more information and tell them I was fired I will no longer be considered. Please help...do you think I will get the job from the way she talked to me today?

If you get a part time job offer on the phone verbally and said you are interested and available, but later you decide not to take the job. You have made the employer wait over a month due to situational issues partially arising from the employer's operating protocol.

Can the employer sue you for re-advertising cost and waisted time ? I have not signed any papers, and have never said "I am accepting the offer", but merely said that I am interested and available. Also, my offer is still pending on my successfully passing the employer's physical and drug screening.

Sometimes I will hear that lawyers make a lot of money. Other times, I hear that they actually make a low income-or at least, a low starting income. Is this true for most lawyers (since there are exceptions in every case). Just curious. =)
What is the best paying job for a lawyer? corporate law? real estate?
