It all depends what state you live in and what company you for. Example California your work is required, 2 breaks and a lunch for every 8 hour shift. A six hour shift you get a break and lunch, but 5 hour 45 min shift you just get a break. Not all states require breaks. But also keep in mind when you apply for your job and your signing papers, some companys bi laws that say if were to busy we dont have to give you a break. If you ask your company for state laws on breaks there required to give you that info.

Our company requires a ten minute break at 4 hours of work, and a 30 minute break at six hours of work, two 10 minute breaks and a 30 minute break at eight hours of work, and an hour at ten hours of work. It's usually at the associate's discretion when to take the breaks.

Depends what you are doing. If you do a lot of computer work then under the Health and Safety at Work (VDU) Act 1992 you should get a small break from it to do something else (non-computer related work or rest) every 40-45 mins.

I'm not 100% on this, but I believe at 5 hrs you're required a break; 8 is lunch...If you check in your works break room, you can find ban posters that'll explain legal employee obligations. If they're not posted, contact the dep't of labor.

All depends on what state you live in. In my state, it's 6 hours. And at many jobs I've worked at... they wait till the last minute to give us our lunch breaks.
