I had several items listed. One item....was broken and I could not end the auction. (It was ending soon) So I bid on it with another account. I won the auction so I still had to pay fees. No one was out of money but me because I was the high bidder. Then this lady emailed me and told me she wanted the item and she reported that I was shill bidding. I won the bid so what did I do wrong. Anyway I want to know has anyone else been suspended for this and if so for how long? And what should I do to speed up the process. I was laid off recently and this is my main income. I would not wrong people I just wanted to end the auction without someone wanting an item and me not being able to deliver. I have 100% positive feedback.

I want to ask my boss for a raise. My salary is low compared to what's listed on salay.com for my job description. Basically I want to say to my boss, 'based on salary.com, this is what average people are earning for the same type of job that I do'. Or should I even bring up salary.com when asking for a raise?

My boyfriend and I have been tossing around the idea of moving out of Michigan due to the abysmal job situation here. We're in our early 20's, with some college but no degrees. We are smart and very hard workers (I currently work 54 hrs/wk) with our experience being in retail/customer service (we hate our jobs). We are both looking to expand our college education, but get no finanacial support from family, and are hoping another state may offer better opportunites to make that easier to do.

These are the states I've narrowed down to solely based on unemployment ratings. I would like to know peoples general impressions, especially regarding the job outlook for us, quality of life, towns we should consider...anything you can think of. These are all places neither of us have been to.

Montana, Wyoming, Virginia, Nebraska; South Dakota, New Hamsphire, Delaware, Minnesota, Maryland

Thanks in advance, and happy New Year!

Recently I asked about taking money out of a salaried employees pay to cover the cost of payroll over-ride from hourly employees. If Manager doesnt have a contract, never had one, and nothing in writing to say you will be responsible for hourly employees if payroll goes over employers budget, can he take the money from the managers pay to cover this over-ride? Do you think I will be "blackballed" if I took legal action agqainst this sort of Payroll-Robbery? Having money taken out of my check because hourly employees sometimes run into overtime, and get paid for their overtime, but I get hundreds of dollars taken out of my check to cover it. Hope this is enough info for someone to give me advice on what to do, because I cannot afford to just quit without a back-up plan.

What is it that an employer would really disapprove of in an employee. Not necessarily grounds for termination. But what drives an employer crazy?

I started working at a florist a month ago,one day a week voluntary to gain experience for when I start my college course. To cut a long story short she asked me to work 2 days a week and told me she would pay me for it,I asumed it would be minimum wage as I am 28.I gave her my hours for the month and said,im guessing I will be paid minimum wage and she said 'no trainee wage'. We had a fall out the next day about something else and she told me not to come back.
I have to go to the shop and pick up my cheque tomorrow but I think she is trying to get out paying me all together as she has kept quiet about it.I still didnt get round to sorting out my P45 ,what rights do I legally have in getting paid,i have worked for one month.

Thank you very much for any info

I am a long term computer consultant, coming up on my first year at the client site. I have heard from other people, that if you go home for 30-days or more, it resets the clock as far as the IRS is concerned. Otherwise, after a year they consider you a resident of the state that you are working in.

Had a well paying job but the market imploded and I was laid off and can no longer find work in my field(16 years). I didn't take unemployment benefits because I thought I could muddle through with some side projects till a new job came along-which has not worked out. I've tried applying for every position from professional to sales and even fast food and department stores won't hire me (over-qualified). My house is going into foreclosure, my car will be repo'ed, all of my credit cards are maxed out and things seem hopeless. Has anyone else been in a similiar situation and what did you do to get out? Is my life ruined?
