Managers generally go through a lot to get where they are. Especially in small business, some managers invest a lot of time and money in what they do. They expect professionalism and dedication. Being late, poor appearance, bad attitude, poor work ethic, and just in general what type of person you are can impact your employment. Most managers will not hire someone who doesn't want to work there or who can't work with others. It pays to be a good employee. Only a small percentage of people get shafted because they are hard workers. And those people usually end up leaving for better employment opportunities. Hope this helps.

Being chronically late. This is just not done and will lead to termination if not corrected.

Lying and subterfuge. And especially wasting time on the internet, like right now!

Laziness which for me would not be grounds unless they never got their work done; lying, which I would almost want to dismiss immediately; and stealing-grounds for immediate dismissal.

I'd say bad hygiene - when you come to work all gross and smelly cause you only bathe once a week! YUCK!
