Tell your boss you have explosive diarrhea. The graphic explanation will pretty much guarantee no questions from your boss and if you call your boss around breakfast time he or she will want to hang up as fast as possible if they are already eating.

I suggest you drink some juice, take a nice relaxing bath, and suck it up, or you could face losing your holiday pay for today. Most employers will not pay if you call in sick the day before or after the holiday. If you absolutely cannot make it in, I suggest you be sure to go to the doctor and get a doctor's note for the day. You don't want your boss thinking you're unreliable.

You might as well state the truth. You're going to get an attendance occurrence no matter what the excuse is, at least keep your integrity.
