I am harboring a lot of anger against my soon-to-be former boss. He couldn't help me with basic terminology when I first started there (b/c he doesn't know himself), never followed up on any problems I asked him to address, often walked off while I was asking him a question (he pretending he didn't hear me), never responded to any of my emails, and last but not least, gave me a bad evaluation (based on a project I volunteered to HELP with, not my job) - in July and did not even tell me about it - I found out when going through online paperwork through the HR website that the review was done, he didn't even give suggestions for improvement. This was a call center health insurance job if you're wondering. So, I'm considering writing my resignation letter to address all of these issues as why I'm resigning and copying it to his boss as well. It would just make me feel better. What would you do?

I recently asked my boss for some time off from work, as the job really isnt what Ive been looking for. I figured that if I got some time apart from the office, everything would be OK when I came back, but it was still the same. I asked my boss for a little more time off, due to a death in the family and he told me to take as much time off as I needed. Now, I dont want to go back. I have another job that wants me to start in a week and a half, but I could chose to be parttime or fulltime. Its also a seasonal job. I want to go fulltime, but how do I formally quit my job? Would it be a good idea to ask for time off during the season and come back afterwards? My boss has let other employees do this before, but I dont want to get stuck in this bubble of going, coming back, going coming back, etc etc. Any opinions?

I have 9 years of IT experience working in different domains and different geographies. Past 3 years I have been working in management roles. I am also currently enrolled for EGMP program with IIMB. I am looking for job change and am interested in senior management jobs which are pure management roles.I have not had much of success as on web these kind of opporunities are not advertised. What would be the best way of targeting these kind of opportunities?

Hi everybody,

I wanna join the advertising industry because i feel that i have so much potential in thinking out of the box and capturing attention through above the line marketing.

However, i've only realised this dream within the past year and i'm already 25. I'm getting a business degree majoring in marketing by the end of december 2006. i love playin with imaging software but do not have any qualifications to back it up. i do have strong negotiation skills from my current sales & marketing job though.

Any recommendations?

I need the income for my rent and bills but I hate my job so much. I can't communicate with my boss and colleague and they continually pile me with work. It'd take quite some time for me to find a new job but i'm terribly depressed now.

Then there was a second round after which the person asked again whether i have submitted a photo. Why are they insisting on a photo when they are meeting me personally? Interview was OK, results awaited in a week's time.

I just started working for a new company, and I am a bit concerned I am not being paid the correct salary. I basically figured my gross monthly income times 12 months. The amount is considerably less then the salary I agreed upon. Am I figuring this incorrectly? For example... 923.06 per month times 12 would equal 11076.72, but the salary was 12000.00 per year. Hopefully this makes sense. Anyway... Thank you for serious responses.

Hi. Let me explain what my company does. It gives each employee an "evaluation" every "anniversary date" (the day of the year that they started working for the company) and they get a score. This score tells them what percentage of a raise they will get. Then, they tell the employee that the raise will "show up" on the next paycheck or two. Here's the problem. A lot of people don't get their raises in this period of time. The lag ranges from two months to a year! Once, a co-worker of mine complained, after he hadn't gotten his raise in 6 months. He went to see the floor manager, who told him not to worry, and then he proceeded to pick up someone else's evaluation from his desk and said, "Look! This person hasn't gotten their's in 8 months!" as if it was common practice and there was nothing wrong with it. My question is, is holding someone's raise when it's due legal? I mean, can they get in big trouble for it? And, who can I contact to get this matter resolved? Thanks!

I have recently moved to a reasonably small town. I moved here with my Fiance for his job. However, there is no work in my field. The only thing here for me is retail and that is a long shot to say the least.

I have come up with an idea that I could help elderly and disabled individuals by doing things like their grocery shopping, running their errands, and even taking them to doctor's appt's etc. I would even be open to doing light house work or meal preparation.

I am not sure of the best way to get my name and idea out to people. I want to be taken seriously. I thought about the newspaper but, how likely is it that a person would contact a stranger through a newspaper? Please send me idea's on how I could make this work. Thanks
