So I'd say something along the lines of: I'm not conversant with that particular law/act - but when situations like this arise at any point I know exactly where to go to find the relevant information. Then expalin what you'd do. And mention if you have a support network of lawyer friends who discuss etc.

These two sites seem to be saying that when interviewers ask impossible questions they are testing for your creativity and ability to think about them. If the question is about law, being able to tell them where you would begin your research for an answer might be the best response. As a law student this should be a skill you would have.( I know nothing about law schools so I am just guessing here)

No one knows everything about the law especially those in that line of work.So if you dont know say something like this It is not a point that I have yet come across but if needed I will take the time and find out to anyones satisfaction. During the time of my studies I have found that there is very little that cannot be found in relation to a request etc that is not or has not been written about and my intention will be to become familar with where I might find the necessary information.

Rather than admitting that you don't have a specific skill, stress that you’re a fast learner and are excited about the possibility of acquiring new skills. Most companies would rather hire an enthusiastic, smart person who needs to be trained than someone who already has the required skills but isn’t as eager to learn.
