If you call in 3 times a month then I wouldn't believe a person like that either. I have called in sick once in the past year. I never get the feeling they don't believe me. Some people at my work call in like once a month and always on saturdays. Gee I wonder why they don't believe you.

Cuz they don't want to...and it may not be that they don't believe you, but it may be that they begin to question how dedicated you are to the job and if you are sick enough to call out. Unfortunatly that makes many people show up at work sick and spread germs throughout the office, and next thing you know...your dedication caused serious operational delays cuz half the office is sick!

Your question makes it sound as though you often phone in sick and if this is the case then perhaps this has made them suspicious. On the other hand, perhaps it's only your misconception that they don't believe you; perhaps you yourself feel guilty about not being able to attend for work. Or, perhaps you feel ill, but not really ill enough to stay at home, so again, you have guilty feelings.

In my experience, managers always judge people by their own standards, so phoning in sick when they're not is obviously something they've done in the past!

you need to work on your "sick" voice. jokes. I think its cos so many people fake sicknesses they get a tad suspicious and rightly so. esp on mondays and fridays. most companies demand a doctors note for mondays and fridays.
