I recently asked my boss for some time off from work, as the job really isnt what Ive been looking for. I figured that if I got some time apart from the office, everything would be OK when I came back, but it was still the same. I asked my boss for a little more time off, due to a death in the family and he told me to take as much time off as I needed. Now, I dont want to go back. I have another job that wants me to start in a week and a half, but I could chose to be parttime or fulltime. Its also a seasonal job. I want to go fulltime, but how do I formally quit my job? Would it be a good idea to ask for time off during the season and come back afterwards? My boss has let other employees do this before, but I dont want to get stuck in this bubble of going, coming back, going coming back, etc etc. Any opinions?

To formally quit, write a letter of resignation to your boss that states your decision to leave the position due to your circumstances or other opportunities. You don't have to go into detail, it's just the formal way to go.
If you're not sure about what you want to do, you could always ask for time off again, but it sounds like you would rather have a permanent position.
Well, best of luck in whatever you decide to pursue.

Why don't you do the seasonal thing with your boss and make sure that you like your other job first. This way if it don't turn out, you have a job to fall back on. And if you still don't like it, look for on that you enjoy while you are in the off season. Many people have done this. I live in a seasonal area and I know how you feel. Most of everything shuts down in the winter months and your lucky to find a year round job. So, as the saying does,,,, Look before you leap!!!
But just be happy in what you do. Good Luck!

It's best to tell them anywhere from 2 weeks to a month before you resign. You should do this in a letter of resignation; keep it formal and polite (in case you need employment, or a future employer contacts them, you'll be leaving on good terms). Be sure to give the reason that you are prioritizing school at the moment. Don't slack off in your work, and go about work the same as you always do.

If you feel that the new job offer is better then the one you currently have then take it. In order to formally quit your job all you have to do is type out a resignation letter, sign it and hand it over to your boss.

if you want to quit you should submit a letter of intent and put in your two week notice. it is really the most polite thing to do. there is nothing worse than just having someone up and quit with no notice. i hope you'll find happiness in another job.
