In an organization run by a board of directors, when is it appropriate to contact the chairman of the board to let him/her know that the executive director is not showing up to work, attending meetings etc.? Or is it better, as an employee of this director, not to get involved and wait for the board to take action on its own?

I'm concerned about both work ethic and how going over my bosses head would reflect on me as an employee.

At the same time, this chronic bad behavior is reflecting negatively on the organization and is not providing staff with the necessary leadership to do its job effectively.

I really need some money so on applications I don't put that I'm a college graduate. That's right I leave that out. My friends say I'm overqualified for the jobs I have been applying for. The jobs I have been applying for are only seasonal and retail jobs. Is this a good idea?

I hated it. I had to do it when I was a teen, because that was one of the few jobs available to someone my age. I'd already done the fast food thing, and was ready for a change. Well let me tell ya, I would take fast food any day over telemarketing. I got cursed out and hung up on, more times in one day, than I ever have in my life. Also, I didn't like how they tried to make us sell our product, even when the person might be old and senile. We had to stick to the script. Once, I was on the line with an old woman, and she was going to agree to sign up with us, but I could tell that she obviously did not know what she was agreeing to. So, I just went ahead and told her that I did not think our service would be the right one for her. Luckily, my line wasn't being monitored at the time, because I knew I would have been fired for sure. However, I was not about to screw over an elderly person like that. Plus, I quit soon after anyway. Telemarketing is no fun.

My workplace is a"true poison environment now"!! They've stigmatized me 'cause I had PTSD from a complete house bomb!! I've been back to work for 9 mos doing well but one boss in particular has stonewalled me the whole way -wrongly giving me dambing evaluations but now to say I will not be able to stay--I've JUMPED THROUGH HOOPS!!! They want me to go on the last leg of health ins-I think is just 2 mos of training then gone!! Dr supports "new illness" being paranoia which keeps me on the payroll (for my mortgage) for STD17 wks, then onto 2yrs of health ins LTD which would =2/3 of my pay so I could retrain to a lateral pay type of job. I don't want anymore than I deserve but I am a very decent person and deserve my due.-- I have a meeting with management/union tomorrow and I am fretting terribly. Please help do you have any experience with this type of thing? and I am a widow with a 9yr girl.

I'm a lawyer but my job is so NOT demanding. I can't figure out why and I really do everything that I possibly can for my job. What can I do to keep busy everyday at work when I've done everythng else? Are there some classes online I could take? What other activites can I do in my office that would actually be productive?

Ok this is so petty but I'm gonna say it anyway. Do you ever get people at work that is always pinching your food or snacks that you keep in your desk or borrowing a couple of quid and never paying you back? There is this one girl at work that does it (not just to me but to other colleagues) and its ok the first couple of times but after awhile it gets so annoying! and yet she offers anything around. Do these people have no shame?

I hate switching to a new job, because you have to get used to things all over again. I know that promotion and higher salary is good; however, it's hard getting used to the new atmosphere and new people. In the Spring, I will be switching from my current job, to a new one. What advice can you give to the new person on the job? I am very nervous about making this move!!!! What can I do to be accepted by my co-workers, quickly?

If so, why aren't you working???? Lol :-p I am at work right now, and things are so slow and quiet....so usually, on days like today, I spend my time asking and answering questions here on Yahoo, or trying to find fascinating material to read on the net. lol My boss doesn't care, as she spends more time on the computer than I do. How many of you are at work?

I've tried to find a job, with no success. I've applied at libraries, schools, the hospital, nursing homes, the Air Force (and was rejected because of my eyesight) and for retail jobs. I just got out of school in May, and feel I'm at my wits end. I want a job, and I'm trying hard to get back into the work force, but nothing's coming up. My father says it's hard right now, and that since we live in an economically depressed area, retailers probably won't hire me since I have a degree (there are a lot of uneducated people where I live who'd work for a lot less money).
I'm in the process of getting into substitute teaching, but it will be at least a month before I can do that. Also, I'm going to take civil service exams, but the tests aren't until January and Feb, and I won't get the results back until months after that.
I have an appointment with a temp agency on the 15th.
I just don't know what to do, or what to say anymore. I'm worried I'll get mad and yell at them.

I'm a stay at home mom with 3 small kids. I'd like to make a little extra money to help out. I'm not looking to get rich just to bring in a little extra each month. I saw a few ads for these survey jobs and was wondering if they are worth it or if I'd just be wasting my time. I'm hoping someone has done this before and can give me some advice.
