Mine. My job is good.
I am a First Vice President at a mortgage banking firm. Not the most exciting job granted. However, it pays quite well, has great perks and has allowed me multiple promotion opportunities. My salary has tripled in four years. I don't even have a high school diploma...imagine what you could do if you've got one!
I'm in my mid-30's, didn't graduate, am a single mom supporting a child without financial assistance from any person, agency or organization, and own my home. Not bragging... just pointing out what can be accomplished without a diploma.
All of that being said - I do not recommend foregoing an education. If it is at all possible to go to school and graduate, or even move on to college - do it. Without a single doubt in my mind I can easily say this - do it. While great things can and have been achieved by people without a higher education or even a high school diploma, it is not the best route to take. For some, maybe it is - makes them stronger, gives them an appreciation for life and what it has to offer, etc... For the most part, though, it's tough. You have to scratch and fight your way to the top or wherever it is you want to be. You have to work twice, even three times as hard as the guy next to you that has a degree but does the same job. You don't immediately gain respect with your work ethic, hard work or great ideas. You are patronized and looked down upon a bit. It definitely makes you stronger. But you can become equally as strong with an education.
If, for whatever reason, you are not able to finish school, don't give up on any dream or goal you have. Read. Read whatever you can get your hands on. Reading will educate you in so many ways, not the least of which is that reading gives you an understanding of other people and cultures. Ask for help when you need it. I didn't, but should have. I let pride get in the way. Might as well of shot myself in the foot. Not asking for help is standing in your own way. Find a mentor if you can. Someone you respect or admire. Someone who can guide you while you are making difficult decisions for yourself about your life and the path you want to take. Then finish school at your earliest opportunity. Go back to high school or college - whatever you need to do. It will only help you. Even if you don't get to a point in your career where you need to go back and finish your education, do it anyway...as soon as you are able. Knowledge is power - it's not just a saying. It's true. A smart man or woman is always going to come out on top - eventually.
Obviously, I don't know your situation...just sharing mine. If you are asking this question because you have a choice to make right now and any of your options include staying in school - do it.
I wish the best of everything for you - good luck in school or in finding a job that works for you for now.

since you don't have a college diploma to back you up you will have to create an excellent work experience record. So my suggestion ( and this is what I did) is take and entry level position with a good reputable company...try to get your 2 yr if possible and work your way up in the company. Then after you have gone as far as you can in that company beef up your resume and start job shopping.
I have a really good job right now, but it took me 10 yrs to get where I am at now...I personally regret not going to college it would have been a lot easier and faster to get where I'm at today. BTW, I'm 27. Of course, I did go get my 2 yr Assoc. at a community while I with a really good company for about 3 yrs who paid for school...but I took an entry level position that didn't pay well. It looked good on the resume though.

Their are tons of jobs that you can get with only a high school diploma. Most are entry level and not really very good at first. If you get an entry level position with a good company you do have potential to move up. They usually involve monotonous office work or manual labor. That's just the way it is. Just work hard every day.

There's no doubt that good jobs with only a high school diploma are scarce but there are possibilities. If you have a clean record, consider law enforcement--good job security, decent pay as blue collar work goes, and lots of overtime possibilities.

Try some research into the insurance industry, but only if you're interested. It requires no actual college time, though buisness classes can be helpful. You can take a 2-3 day crash course for about $300 most areas. (Personal lines or commercial lines.)Then, you take the test, which costs about $50, and only requires a 70% to pass. Then, if you pass, you can submit your test to the state for a license and that will cost you about $300. Many insurance companies, if they hire you, will pay for these costs with the understanding that you're going to be working for them, and at the same time you're getting on the job training. Though it is easier to get hired if you're licensed before applying to a company.

Do you have the native ability to sell your skills to others, are you a born salesperson, what do you like to do? Take those assets and use them.
Either start you own business on Ebay or See different small business, like insurance agents, bookkeepers, bakeries, lawyers, architects, engineers, realtors, etc. and see if they can use a "go for." Volunteer to do it free for a month, if you have to, to show that you are dedicated to do your job and excel at it.
Inititive and perserverance is what will get you to succeed.
