Why do Airlines Advertise 'warm and motherly treatment'?

Some say it is because the Airconditioner don't work and the hostesses are your mother's age, is it true?

if you're stranded in an airport, hundreds/thousands of miles away from home, what kind of support would you want?

most would think the same type of support & comfort you would have from your mother.
