I'm a stay at home mom too. I spend 2-3 hours a month taking surveys and make around $20 each month from it. If you're just looking for a little extra spending money, it's a nice way to do that.
I've listed some of the sites I have taken surveys through and actually been paid (or recieved other rewards like gift cards or CDS) on the following site, if you are interested:
http://www.windhavenweb.com/surveys
I list how they pay you, what I like and dislike about them, whether they have an affiliate or referral program, etc.
There are others out there. Be careful though, there are also scams. Don't sign up for any survey site which asks you to pay to access the surveys. Also watch for language like "get paid for taking surveys AND SIGNING UP FOR OFFERS" if you don't want to have to sign up for stuff with other companies to get paid.
Always carefully read their terms of service and privacy policy. If in their privacy policy they say they only use aggregated info, this is GOOD SIGN they are legit. Aggregated info information that is grouped together so it can't be connected with anyones personal identification like name, e-mail, phone or address. That's what survey sites SHOULD collect. Avoid sites that say they give, rent, or sell any personal information (info that is not agregated) to third parties (unless you really don't mind getting junk mail, telemarketing calls, and spam).
Also just recently came across a good survey ratings site that I've found very helpful:

I am a full time worker doing work online at home, so I can share my personal experience with you. When u are planning for a home based online business, be very careful because most of them are scam and ask you to pay initial money. never pay money to any such site. Did you ever heard that if u r going for a job and employer ask you for money before hiring? After lot of search, I have found one website, where you can make $600 in a month working at home. The only work need to be done is posting a discussion and answering a discussion. the link is:
http://tinyurl.com/yhzzph
But there is nothing called free lunch and you have to work if you want to make more and more money. When i said $600, i meant in a month, if you will work hard you can even make $1000 or more.. it all depends on your usage pattern. How u get money is through posting a discussion and replying to discussion. I worked for 1 hour daily last month and i got paid $238 for the last month. Its not bad after all, i am happy and making more
Please let me know, if you have any queries

I've done really well using this site http://www.mylot.com/?ref=nancygibson... Its much like here except you actually get paid for asking and answering questions and posting pictures. I'm spending just 15 minutes a day on there and made an extra $30 last month just as an indictaion, and its free and in odd moments, so imagine what you could do with a bit of effort. Dunno if that would be of any interest or help at all?

Most people who work at home and are successful are doing one of two things - getting paid a commission on everyone they convince to join the program (also known as MLM or pyramid plans) OR they have their own business. Your own business is something you create yourself, not find on the internet. You create it based on your skills, your passions not on what someone else tells you is the GREATEST thing going. If you are looking at one of the endless "opportunities" out there be careful - most are scams. Here are a few questions you should ask to help figure out if the one you are looking at is for real or not. Legitimate work-at-home program should tell you - in writing - what's involved in the program they are selling. Here are some questions you might ask: * What tasks will I have to perform? (Ask the program to list every step of the job.) * Will I be paid a salary or will my pay be based on commission? * Who will pay me? * When will I get my first paycheck? * What is the total cost of the work-at-home program, including supplies, equipment and membership fees? * What will I get for my money?

I found one legitimate work at home site so far, and it made me $155 in one day.
I started by answering surveys and filling out some free offers and received a real check from them. The catch is that it is free to join and you still get a check in the mail.
Goto - http://www.race4success.ws
But once I found out this site was legit, I started adding referrals. For every person you refer, you get 20% of what they earn , 10% for every person that your referrals refer, and a extra $1 bonus for any USA referrals. It may take some time to build up the number of referrals necessary to make a lot of money.
NEVER join a work at home program that wants you to pay up front.

I tried the survey jobs, and I didn't make any money. A lot of people say they do, maybe my luck just wasn't good. I found a company that was great for me. I stay home with my kids ages 1 and 2, and I'm able to help out with the expenses. talesacooper@sbcglobal.net

You may want to consider this one. There is no fee to start and it is from a company that is more than 9 years old (so it's a solidly based company). Take 15 minutes of your time:
