My cocky nerd boss has been nothing but mean to me and belittled me and this wednesday is my last day here and I want to say something to him that is mean but not rude. I really don't care about burning bridges anymore. Ever since he found out that I was leaving, he has told several people that he "had to let me go" which we all know is BS! I quit! He's just such a jerk and I just want to say something to him without cussing or anything, but something that sortof shocks him. He used to be so nice, but now, it has all changed. I just don't know what to do anymore. I know I should let it go and not worry about it but I just want him to realize how much he has really hurt my feelings by belittling me and other co-workers (ofcourse I would not say their name). What do I say!?

I applied for this job at a bank about a month or so ago and they called me back. I went for an interview at human resources, at which point they said they'd be in touch. They called me back a couple of days later and set up an interview at a branch. I went for that interview and it seemed more like a getting to know you and telling you how things work at this company rather than a job interview. It went well and I left the meeting being told, we'll be in touch.

Now, 2 weeks later, I have yet to hear back from them. Would it be appropriate to called human resources and ask what's going on? And why would it now take 2 weeks to get back to me whenthings have progressed (usually) in intercals of a few days?

I currently have a Full Time job and am looking to make some extra cash on the side. I was looking into working from home but all the ads that I come across ask for me to pay a fee. I am not to sure about those ads. So, I was hoping for some suggestions on what companies to contact regarding at home position. Data Entry type positions. Legit companys only please that do not require me to pay a fee!! If it matters where I live, I am in the DC/ Maryland & Virginia area. Thanks!!

Current job relocated. When they picked the new location, they only considered certain employees when it came to distance. They moved to a location that would be more convenient for these employees, who already lived close and ignored the fact that it was a lot further for others, who already traveled a long distance. (During times of snowstorms, etc, absolutely no consideration is given to the employees that live far away, in fact, the employeees that live close get to leave first.) So one of the distant employees first said they were going to quit, gave informal (no written) notice, but then asked if they could stay. The company told them "no" they had to leave the date they said they would. Can the employee collect unemployment?

(This is in NJ)

We agreed after we had children that I wouldn't work outside the home. I am attending online college to get a degree in Health Administration to eventually work from home. However, the way bills are now, I have to actually go out and get a job. I am scared, I haven't worked in the "world" in so long. Anyone else gone through this and how did you cope? Did you end up liking the job?

My kids are in school full time, so I need to work during the day and be with them during the evening. Any advice? (Serious answers please)

My cousin was summoned for a job interview just that her prospect boss set the appointment for a bar, on a Sunday afternoon. When she asked him why was that so, he said he could not manage to the interview her at the office on the working days anytime in the future, cause his schedule was too busy.
She is not so sure it is ok. Is it?

I asked my boss for a raise last Monday, based on how long I have been here, how much work I do, the quality of my work and my financial situation. He said he had to talk to his partner (the head attorney) and also look at the whole picture. They are trying to get our bookkeeper to go to half days and have me trained on her job, on top of mine.
I really need a raise quick and want to know how long I should wait for an answer and what I should say when I do bring it up again.

If you're moving from a full-time position, to a part-time position within the same company (same job, same duties, etc - just doing it in fewer hours), do you fill out a letter of resignation?

My boss requested this of me, and it smells fishy. A resignation letter means that I'm quitting, which I'm not. No one asked me to 'resign' from my part time position when I moved to full time 4 years ago - why do I have to do it now to go backwards? Except maybe so he can try to pay me less because I technically 'quit'?
