Do you think it's better to inquire about a job opening and handing in a CV in person by going directly to a company or is it better to hand it in online?

Hi, I've recently been offered a high paying (upper middle class) job, located in downtown New Orleans. I'm unfamiliar with the area, especially post-Katrina. Where can I live within an hour's drive of downtown that offers the best safety and is relatively back to normal? I also have a wife who is a school teacher, so areas where the public schools are better would be helpful to me. NOLA historically has bad schools, and if I take this job it would be a very important consideration for us. Should she consider teaching in a parochial school? Should we live in Baton Rouge and just give me a long commute? Any recommendations are welcomed!

I'm not in a place to leave right now. My boss is a 100 year old asshole attorney who thinks the world owes him something. Such a mean man. I am miserable. He has a brand new corvette, I thought about keying it. Ha ha.
Anyone else in this position?

I am currently working at this company, and have been for the past year and a half, at this certain position. I am in college and probably want to get a job at this company when I graduate, but at the moment there is another option for me. Another company needs help and the position they are opening is basically the same thing for a little more and hour. Would my reputation be sullied with this current company I work at if I made the switch? Or could I have a good chance at still working here. The company I would like to work at after I graduate is higher security type of work and more confidential projects, which I think if I stayed would give me a better chance after college so they could simply hire internally and have no security breaches.

how to ask or bring up the negotiation of salary

i'm hoping to also start up a company soon, but i have qualifications to work at a law firm, or even doing administrative work for companies and research facilities. however, i used to work retail for a while so it was okay for me to have a tattoo on my hand. i can cover it with my sleeve, but i'm not sure, its still somewhat visible since its on my hand. as for my piercings, i can cover them up.
and i probably should grow my hair out (since i have a mohawk now).

i just don't know if trends have changed in the office place or if its still unacceptable, even though it does absolutely no harm.

i don't want my ambitions to go to waste, and i don't want to remove the tattoo either.

Help!

Does anyone else feel guilty when they call off sick to work? I only work two days a week night shift. Last night I got so sick I asked to leave halfway through my shift. I am still feeling terrible and vomiting, but I don't have a fever or any other symptoms except pain in my stomach. I have only been at this job for 10 months. To make matters worse, last week I had to call in sick because my allergies were so bad that my eyes were swelled almost shut. I saw my doctor that day because over the counter allergy meds were not working. I work in a hospital so going to work sick would not be very good for the patients. I drive my husband crazy when I'm sick and have to call off work because I analyze all day whether or not I'm REALLY too sick to be at work even though I feel horrible. I've never called off a day just because I didn't want to go and if I call off work I don't even leave my house unless I'm going to the doctor. Anyone else overwhelmed with guilt at calling in sick?

Tomorrow I got a 2nd interview. The first time was with the HR lady and the Claims Supervisor. Tomorrow will be with the president of the company.

I did great on my first interview. I stated what I was looking for, how much money I am looking for, what type of employee I am, etc... And I connected great with the supervisor!

So what is going to happen and what are some good tips I can remember to go into this 2nd interview. I truly want this job!!!

Its for claims departments!

at the end of the interview after i gave the range 35-45, he said the offer will surely be closer to the top number, so i was expecting something around 41-43k. He volunteered that info.

They just offered 38k yr and asked me to get back today with my concerns.

Im interested in the wording of my counteroffer, any help?,
Industry base in my area is 45-47k, i have the experience and education to warrant it.

What do i say or write to begin the counter.
