Don't do it. I was a 9-1-1 Operator for 2 years and I saw so much corruption in the police force that I changed careers. You, like I, were probably raised to believe the police are the "good guys." Think again. Think about why the idea of being a police officer appeals to you. If it's because you want to help in your community, then check around for some places where you can volunteer. If it's because you want power, take a self-defense course. If you want to find out how corrupt your local police force is, do a few ride-alongs (call your local precinct as ask to do a ride-along, tell them you're thinking of joining the force). During the ride-along, just let them talk (don't tell them you've been told they're probably corrupt). It'll all come out, you'll see.

Yikes, why a cop. I first started out by entering the military police as some sort of stepping stone and eventually I turned to force protection and physical security. making more dough, protecting the military and working for the government. Hell, I'm in friggen Baghdad doing what I enjoy (whacking Iraqi's).........

Screw that paperwork and traffic stops and dealing with drunk town officials who threaten your job unless you let them go. Screw that, and what these towns and states are paying these officers should be illegal its so low !!!! Stay in the private sector or go federal. FPS and ICE is a great way to go.....
