i'm hoping to also start up a company soon, but i have qualifications to work at a law firm, or even doing administrative work for companies and research facilities. however, i used to work retail for a while so it was okay for me to have a tattoo on my hand. i can cover it with my sleeve, but i'm not sure, its still somewhat visible since its on my hand. as for my piercings, i can cover them up.
and i probably should grow my hair out (since i have a mohawk now).
i just don't know if trends have changed in the office place or if its still unacceptable, even though it does absolutely no harm.
i don't want my ambitions to go to waste, and i don't want to remove the tattoo either.
Help!

What a great question! It is so hard to grow up. I know what you are going through! I worked in retail for 10 years where I was able to pierce or tattoo anything I wanted! Granted, I never got any tattoos, but my piercings help me represent who I have become and how I have grown.
Although, my current job is in an administrative, quite conservative company they have not made me remove my piercings. They accept me for who I am, and know that I have more "drive" than others here that are more on the conservative side. They have seen past my "youthful" appearance and my style of dress. They love me.
Some companies do not care. And some companies are concerned with the presentation it gives the company as a whole if one person has a visible tattoo. You know that most of the CEO's, Presidents and VPs, etc. have something they are hiding under their stiff collar. But, they still get that broom handle stuck up there that says "no way" to someone with a visible tattoo.
I would find a smaller law firm, even a one man show to work for. They might not care as much.
Since you are planning on starting your own business soon, don't try to change who you are just for a little while. Someone will hire you, but it might not be the pay or type of company you want.
Good luck, Hon!

Most professional offices still frown up visable tattoos and wild hair. The general population want to feel at ease and confident in their professional service providers. Having someone in the office all tatted up might give the impression that you may not be as knowledable or as serious as they require. Though standards have eased in some cases and you will find more styles acceptable in hair and wardrobe; don't be surprised if you are asked about your willingness to cover up the tattoos and having your answer decide you employment.

Hand tattoo, mohawk, and piercings. Nope, typical offices have not relaxed that much. I would even be concerned representing my own company to someone I want as a customer, if I had all that. Perhaps you could get a wig until you grow out your hair, and wear a skin-colored bandaid (if big enough) on your hand.

It seriously shouldn't make a difference.....It doesn't affect your performance!! Let your professionalism and personality show through.....Tattoos are pretty common and well accepted these days as are mohawks :) If you are really concerned about it, there is a make-up that can conceal it called "Make up Artists Choice" But seriously hon, no one has the right to judge you for your choice of style!!! Best wishes!! :)

It all depends on your employer's policies and how strictly they are enforced.
I work for a major corporation and in the employee handbook it states that no visible tattoos are allowed. But I have a tatoo on the inside of my forearm (it's small, but visible) and no one's ever said anything to me. My boss even has a tattoo band around her wrist and no one's ever said anything to her. We don't even try to hide them and it hasn't been a problem in the 4+ years I've worked here.
I would say that in most cases it won't be a problem, unless the tattoo is offensive.

First, hair does need to be presentable. Mohawk sorry buddy is not. Very clean cut and stylish is always acceptable.
Second, piercing need to be taken out while at work. Mine are out and back in when I get home.
Last, try have a long sleeve shirt and if need be put a bandaid over it.

Well I worked as a Recruitment Manager and what we look for is maturity. I would suggest putting forth a positive business image. If you don't match that then change what you can, if you wish to do so. If not look for a company that is open to innovative thinkers and not into traditional rules. Good luck.

Going by your ID, I will assume that you are a woman. My suggestion, since I really don't know exactly where your tat is, is to design and make, or have someone else design and make, a bracelet/cuff that will cover the tat while you are at work. Cover your art with jewelry:)

It all depends on what the tattoo is of, and the future employer. Good luck with that.
