Wear a suit, or a jacket and tie. (sorry, don't know your gender...)
You can never be too dressed or too conservative for an interview. Even if they don't say so, they will notice you made the effort to look your best.
Also, an engineering position is a professional job. Act like it is, even if you get dirty on the job!
I wear a suit a couple of times a week for business. You would be amazed how people treat you with more respect and better service if you are dressed than if you are in jeans or kahkis. It's not a conscious effort on their part, it's subconscious.

Always wear business attire to an interview. A blazer might be more acceptable in this setting rather than a dress suit.

red rubber galoshes, pink speedos, and a yellow and blue polka dotted neck tie. That's all. Anything else and they'll likely want to offer you a job.
