I applied for this job at a bank about a month or so ago and they called me back. I went for an interview at human resources, at which point they said they'd be in touch. They called me back a couple of days later and set up an interview at a branch. I went for that interview and it seemed more like a getting to know you and telling you how things work at this company rather than a job interview. It went well and I left the meeting being told, we'll be in touch.

Now, 2 weeks later, I have yet to hear back from them. Would it be appropriate to called human resources and ask what's going on? And why would it now take 2 weeks to get back to me whenthings have progressed (usually) in intercals of a few days?

Now is an excellent time for a followup call with the interviewer at the branch! Not with the HR department.

It can easily take 2 weeks to go through the pool of applicants; hiring managers have other responsibilities as well. Following up directly with the hiring manager shows that you're still interested in the position and available for hire.

BTW, you DID send out your "Thank You" notes to the interviewers, right?

every company works differently. I would call and ask about it. There is nothing wrong with persistance in the business world. I wouldnt keep this from looking for another oportunity! Sometimes companies have many people in the run for the same job so just call and see if the job has been filled but dont tell them who you are. If they say yes call back the next day to see whats going on with your job interview if they tell you the job has been filled or they are still looking then its time to move on.

Yes, followup and ask them how their search for someone to fill the position is going. Sometimes the paperwork at these companies takes weeks to get through all the approvals before they can offer a candidate a job. I know it's crazy but I've worked a companies before where a candidate was a perfect match but the director couldn't get all the approvals done until three weeks later and by that time he had found another job and the director had to start looking for someone all over again...

I would give them a call. If you don't get hired you could consider starting a home business. There are definetly ways to make money working from home. I am doing very well with this opportunity.

It is very easy to get started and very inexpensive.
During your free trial as soon as you start recieving email from PWS saying you had a member upgrade, make sure you upgrade as well so you don't lose commission. I have been looking for over 5 years for an opportunity like this.

Send a followup letter thanking them for the interview and giving any facts you forgot at the interview. Do not ask straight out if you have the job.

CALL! What can you lose?

Someone else may have been more persistent.

I hired a kid once when I had no opening. He bugged the sh** out of me, came to my business every day for about 10 days.

With that kind of persistence, I made an opening, part time, then he stayed full time.

Usually it would not take 2 weeks, so it may be that they have moved foward with other candidates. However, there is no harm in calling HR.

Hope this helps!

keep looking. Employers are rude, and most wont tell you if they decided to hire some one else.
