My boss is a nasty, rude, insulting and patronising horrorshow who makes everybody's life hell, and has upset way too many in my company, including me!

It's payback time. I would be interested in getting some top tips on creating psychological hell.

Terrible, ain't it? What the hell.

I'm sure that would be the way to score some brownie points with the employer. And don't tell me "I don't understand how that would get you the job", because you know damn well that all employers use bias in their hiring practices.

I'm on disability and I'm feeling stronger like I may be ready to go back to work and I have a really good job offer but I would have to move, the location is cool though because I'd be around all my close friends and church. I live around family now but we're not close and really don't know each other cuz I'm a lot younger then they are & they've made it clear that they don't care whether I'm here or not & have said they don't want to take the time to get to know each other. If I stay I wouldn't have to work & would just collect disability, food stamps & medicaide. Thing is I want to do more then just exsist, I want to make something of myself I'm a strong confident smart, caring, capable person, who can accomplish anything I put my mind to, I've over come a lot of hell and deserve more out of life.

I work at a state university in a small office where only 3 of us work. We all know the same crowd of people. A friend of ours passed away a couple of days ago. The supervisor refuses to close the office for an hour to go to the funeral, but says that she will stay at the office this time, but from now on when someone dies that we all know, we will have to take turns going to the funeral. Both me and my coworker think she's full of it. As we both said, no one is going to tell me whose funeral I will or will not attend. If someone I care for dearly dies and it's not my turn, too bad. I don't think so.

Wouldn't you think that would be illegal? I know I would quit my job if I really loved someone and my boss told me that I could not go to their funeral. I would think lawsuit. To tell you whose funeral you can or can't go to seems very cruel and unethical. By the way, we're not being paid while we are at the funeral.

Anyone ever dealt with this problem before?

I'm curious about doing transcription work but admittedly know very little about it. Most transcription work I hear about is medical. I would like to know more about other types of transcription work, what the required training is and where it can be found, how it compares to medical transcription, and so on.

For decades woman (and some feminized men) have complained about lack of opportunity in the workplace. They claim mistreatment by men or lack of opportunity to advance beyond some "phantom" glass ceiling. They claim to be paid only 70 cent for every dollar paid to men doing the same job. (a frequently quoted statistic that is tenous at best as far as being factual). Essentially, they claim there is some concerted effort by "THE MAN" to keep them down and that if they were given a level playing field they would match or surpass the levels of success tradtionally acheived by men in the corporate world. ALL THAT BEING SAID, I believe its true that women, as a group, cannot get along with each other in the workplace. Cattiness, back stabbing, gossiping, etc. They undermine each other every chance they get!!! If they could pull together and knock off the self defeating behaviors as a group, just think what could be achieved! SO..why can't women getting along on the job???
