A salesman who meets or exceeds sales targets would have no difficulty getting a new job anywhere, any time. You are a valuable commodity in your business and if you aren't getting the respect you deserve, pack up and leave.
Sales is one of the few jobs where changing companies, even fairly often, will not negatively affect your career.
Good luck.

Unless you signed a "non-compete agreement". Most states in the US have what are called "at-will employment" laws. These laws simply state that neither the employer nor the employee are to imply employment as a contract.
Only when there is an explicit contract that outlines the terms of employment may either party have significant cause for recourse.

If you have security in the present job it would not matter that the boss is cooperative. If you easy find employment it could be worth to change. Examine the new position carefully if you are planning to change.

Do what ever you want unless you made the mistake of signing a contract saying you would not work for the competition. If you did and you work for the competition and they find out then they have the right to sue you.
