Banking used to be a very heavily regulated industry. During the Nixon Adminstration a report was created for congress (Hunt Report) suggesting how the banking industry should be changed to have freedom to move into different areas.

Since the financial industry received "more freedom" we have seen the S&L problems, ( based on combining multiple un-profitable companies into one and saying that they are profitable (called goodwill), we have seen Enron, sub-prime lending out of control and others that escape me now.

The common thread on all, government bail out..."Help me".

Should regulations be put back in place? It seems like this is an industry that can't manage itself....

I filled out the FAFSA and they say I don't qualify for any grant money. My husband put my name and email into this website www.usgrantfunding.com and they called me. I answered a few questions and the guy told me I qualify for $26,000 for 3 years of school. He spent a good while talking about the company and how it works, being a "middleman" like H&R block is for taxes. Saying that they charge 1% of whatever I can get in the grant. Which is $260 in my case but they won't start anything until that is sent in a money order to an adderess in Delaware. I happen to be a fraud mans christmas present I am so gullible. Luckily I have friends who aren't. He says his name is Tiger Johnson and the phone number is 1-302-269-7649 ext. 4012. He never asked for my adderess. Does anybody know about this company and or scam. I mean if it's real, which I wish it was someone please help me figure out what to do.

My gambling in laws moved in over a year and a half ago, on the basis it would just be a few months. Now they have bounced the $200.00 rent check(which just covers the cost to have them here and the groceries) for the THIRD TIME. How much notice do you give them, considering it is the holiday season? remember: they must go, they will never take responsibility for their actions if we keep bailing them out. My husband said that he will back me on what ever I say as long as I am fair. So what is a "fair" amount of notice?

I am a first-time home-buyer, currently in the market for a home, and looking to begin proceeding on buying one particular home. I picked a home based on whether or not the monthly payments fit inside my budget, which is 35% of my take-home income for a housing. I am planning to move-in this December.
Now...currently I have 2 vehicles, both I make timely payments on. However, one is within my budget expense, and the other isn't.
The one that isn't within my budget expense I can't pay off by using the additional funds I'm qualified for in the mortgage. I can't pay the vehicle off either because of how much I owe.

The only way I can think of to get rid of this car, is to let it get repossessed. This would only start after I have moved in to my place and have paid my first mortgage payment.

Now...I know the damage this will do to my credit report, but my concern is, how will this effect my homeownership? Could I lose my home if I do this?

I am considering partnering with another agent in my office to sell real estate and advertising. I am a new agent and I want to know if anyone is doing this and how they are handling the commission splits on the the listings. Also, are you using written contracts to govern your partnerships? Are there any drawbacks that any of you have experienced?

It's my senior year in high school, and its time to choose a college. I know that they're two different careers, but was looking for some advice. I have grades in the 90's, and like to think of as being pretty smart. I really don't care for sitting behind an office all day, and like to move around and work on things. Thats why I was moving towards being an electrician. I'd like to make a decent living, but money's not really to big of a decider. Can anyone in both fields tell me what they do day to day, and any advice on choosing? It's appreciated.
