I bought a house in Houston, Texas last summer. I've just received my first bill of property taxes in the mail. I have until February of next year to pay without any penalty. My question is should I pay property taxes now (this year) and claim it in my 2007 tax return OR should I wait until next February?
Thanks,
Kenny

Isn't there anymore trucking companies out there that don't require you to be with a "driver trainer" for weeks on end? before you go on your own? I completed 10 weeks of school, and the job search is ridiculous.

I was on my day off and I show up to my job at a fast food restraunt. While there I let slip a "cuss" word. My manager heard me and threatened immediate termination because of it. I was wondering if they could legally fire me, or would it be considered wrongful termination?

I recently started trading penny stocks with the advice of a friend. He told me to buy a certain stock at $.0001 and told me to hold on to it until it doubled. I bought $150 worth of that stock. I waited about ten days without seeing any results. The price would jump to $0.0002 buy my sell order wouldn't execute. My friend told me to be patient and said something about a market maker buying it at $0.0002. After ten days the price of the stock tripled at my sell order filled at $0.0002. I walked out with $150 in profit (doubling my money.) My friend on the other hand doubled 4 thousand and ended up with 8 thousand dollars.

Now I am tempted to invest $1,000. My question is doesn't this seem too good to be true? My friend claims that there is practically no risk involved because you can always sell back your stocks at $0.001 to the market maker who would buy it immediately. Is this true? What else should I know before buying any further? THANKS!

I recently interviewed with a major bank in California. They performed an extensive background check that included fingerprinting. They just extended an offer which I accepted. The agency that I went through to get the interview is now asking to perform an additional background check. Other than pure curiosity on their part, what reason would they have to run a background check AFTER their client did so and extended an offer? I plan to decline as I see no reason for anyone other than my employer to maintain a record of my personal information. What possible repercussions could occur if I decline? Am I legally required to allow them to check my background after their client already checked my background and extended an offer? Could the agency jeopardize the offer that was already signed if I do not allow them to run a background check on me?

okay, I faxed all my info to the company who wants to hire me for this position.
For my ID's, I faxed a copy of my driver's license [of course valid,ha!] and a copy of my birth certificate.
I get an email today, which I thought was rather snotty. and she said that I needed to send in two forms of ID, which I've already done!
The other receptionist told me Friday "all my paperwork came in"!
I don't understand that person, never have run into a weird prob like this, [well maybe she's on drugs?]

Yesterday I had a great interview with a company regarding a graphic design position. Previous to this job I had worked for 1 1/2 months at a previous job - where because of miscommunication and personal reasons, I left without notice. (Where I live, you are entitled to leave a job without notice within a 3 month time frame). I did not feel it was necessary to include this job on my resume, but today I was confronted by the potential employer regarding this last job. He said he was informed by an employee that worked there that I left without notice and that this causes concern with them choosing me as a candidate. My question is: Is it fair for this potential to investigate a reference that I did not give? It was for these reasons that I did not include the reference in the first place. If I was offered the position, I suddenly do not feel comfortable working in an environment where some of my personal life has been exposed (and could it potentially become a larger problem?) Thanks!

Most work from home positions offered on-line have a one time membership fee, application fee, a fee for training materials or a shipping and handling fee. No matter what, there seems to be a way to get money out of a un-employed person. How could a person afford to risk any amount of money especially revealing their credit card/account to these companies, when they don't have a job to begin with?!!!

I rented from an apt (Equity) because of there relocation program. It was great because I knew there was a chance that I was going to move from NC to GA soon as I found a job. The managment company changed but I did not sign a lease with them, but my lease is still with Equity. I wanted to know am I legally binded to the terms of the new company even though I signed a lease with Equity. Equity says to give a 30 day notice, new company says 60 PLUS a month's rent. With Equity it was nothing, just move with a 30 day notice. Please someone help because this is a lot of money that I would have to dish out. Thanks to all who answer.

I just moved out of an apartment and there was a stain in the carpet left behind. My security deposit was only $250 and the landlord is now telling me that they want around $1,000 to replace the ENTIRE carpet because the stain wouldn't come out. The unit didn't have new carpet when I moved in. Am I responsible to replace the entire carpet? Does the landlord have an obligation to allow me to try and handle the stain? They're hustling me telling me the next tenant moves in on Saturday so they have an appointment for tomorrow morning to get the carpet replaced already! They only called me today! (Thursday)

I have had a heck of a time with medical bills as a result of several health problems that have started in the last couple of years. I have 4 medical bills listed on my credit report under Collections. They add up to a total of $335, and are all listed as 'closed' accounts. I have not paid anything on these, and they are all relatively new items on my report (the oldest is a year old). I'd like to pay these, however I've learned that paying them would turn them into more recent items, and I'd have to start the 7 year waiting clock over again.

My question is, if I were to pay these, would it help my report out at all? I know they will not be erased from my report, but I saw the pie-graph of what your credit score is based off of, and 35% is 'payment history'. Would it help that part of the score at all if I were to pay these? And 30% is 'amount owed'... will getting rid of that $335 help in any way?

Thank you.

I have been the landlord of a townhome in North Carolina for over 4 years. It's equity has increased almost 40%. Would I be wise to research and buy multiple townhomes to rent out or should I keep the house I have and hope for more of an equity rise.

By the way, I have not been affected in any way by any recent real estate down turns, but you never know about the future. It seems to me like the time to buy, when others are scared and selling cheaply. But I'd like everyone else's advice. Thank you.

Hello, I'm experiencing a dilemma. A person's son has opened quite a few accounts in his mother's name and put himself as co-user. He also filed out a few applications in his name but with fake employment info. He hasn't paid the credit cards for a while and his parents found out. Now the collection company is calling for him and his mom to pay the debts they owe. If his mom is willing to take up the debt, will he get in any trouble? Will he also get in trouble for filing out applications with fake employment info?
