I'm really interested in starting my own small business. I'm a 1st year University student, so I don't have the same resources or time as others (I do have the drive!), but I've heard of several individuals who have started and managed several successful small business ventures while in college. I've looked for resource online, but have come up pretty short. It seems that all of the sites related to this are either a) trying to sell you a book, or b) lauding a group of college entrepreneurs.

any help would be great, thanks!

Subprime Predatory Lending Crisis that's hitting alot of hardworking people buying their first home and then the lenders accelerate your income without your knowledge and in six or seven months you need to refinance because you have an AMR mortgage. Has anyone experenced this? If so, my family has been included in a documentary that was done in NOrth Carolina by the Center for Responsible Lending and the North Carolina Realtors Commsion and also the Banking Commisoner. Tell me your story? Let me also know where we can go live after bankruptcy.

When I signed up for AT@T's phone and internet service in September the customer service representative said I would be getting back $125.00. Several weeks later I received a check for $25.00. I called and they said I was due for a rebate for the modem (50.00). What happened to the rest?

I won $10,000 in a contest (hooray!) and now I'm worried about the taxes. Some people are saying that when they sent the check they'll take it out there, and then it gets taken out at the end of the year again!

What is the procedure for this and how much should I save of the $10000 so that I don't get hit at the end of the year?

I don't know why, but this was wandering through my mind this morning. I'm curious to know what percentage of your income goes to housing, and where you all live. I don't need any details, just a percentage.

I'm in CA.
Putting 27% of my annual salary toward housing.

When someone dies, leaving an estate to their beneficiary, it could include stocks, bonds, investment accounts, retirements, real property, etc.

I believe everything under $2 million passes to the heirs without any tax obligation. (Is this correct?)

My question is about the tax-deferred retirement accounts (non-ROTH) that collect ordinary income tax when you draw the funds. Would this tax be required from the heirs?

Thanks.

The differences as far as salary, bonuses, commissions, travel, other perks such as medical and dental benifits, company car, ect. I am also intereested in knowing which field is more stable and which field offers more growth and earning potential.

I have been living in my home for over a year now. To get into my home I did a 5/1 ARM and a HELOC and paid 5% of my home in cash. I did the HELOC so I didn't have to pay the PMI, thinking that I wouldn't be paying more and get back more on my taxes. Well, as you may have noticed, the housing market is in really rough shape. I'm still doing OK on my HELOC, but would like to consolidate my two loans into one loan. I have excellent credit and pay my mortgage early. I guess I'm what you could call a "no risk loan". My questions are, which company would be good for a loan and how do I go about consolidating my 5/1 ARM and HELOC into one mortgage, say a 30 year fixed. Thanks.

I know there are buisness ethics, but aren't there laws that prohibit bosses from demoting employees and giving that position to thier friends? This happened in a major franchise, not a privatley owned buisness. The friend has no prior expierence in this company, and this particular position is more corporate than part of the individual store. This is one of many "questionable" management decisions... I would just like to have accurate facts. Thanks.

Hi, my name is Bob. This weekend my wife Maddie and myself are flying from our home in the Bay area up to Spokane, Washington State. From there we travel by auto to Okanogan County, located in North Central Washington State approx. 45 minutes south of the Canadian border. We will be looking at parcels of land that are 5 to 20 acres in size. I am already aware of what I want regarding topography, size, shape, location and cost of land. Water is by well, waste is by septic. Power and phone is on some parcels and not on others. This makes solar a possibility, but I am still making power from the grid a priority with solar as a possible back up. To find out a more exact cost to run power lines I have to contact the local utility. Septic systems are allowed after passing a perk test by the state dept of health. Wells are drilled until water is located or I can have it hauled in. With all of this info can anyone tell me if I missed anything? Thanx, Robert

A friend of mine told me that she is closing on her house today. I ask her what do you mean? are you BUYING a home? she says YES! I was like WOW!!!! but the thing is that she has credit just as bad as mine. She has a job making about 8-9 dollars an hour, and she has 2 children. I asked if she got the loan on her own (w/o the help of the lame bf she's with) and she says she got it all by herself......My question is....Can you close on a house before actually getting approved for the loan? How does that work?

This year will be the 3rd year so he HAS TO PAY THIS YEAR, we are expecting him to owe around 3,ooo dollars. What is the best thing for him to do when he files this year. Not to mention that we are going to have to pay the guy to do his taxes. What to do. He has never filed before so this would be his first year. What can we claim or do.
