I know that the low exchange rate for the dollar helps export, but at the same time, it makes imports more expensive, and, it lowers confidence in the whole US economy which can lead to recession. So, why is it allowed?

I am looking into selling my house on my own, with some flat fee support. Can I negotiate with the buyer's agent on their commission, or should I just give the 3%? I'm looking at the 3% commission being $11,000-$13,000, which doesn't sound like much, but I am probably going to have to sell the house already for less then I owe and make up that difference with a personal loan. Just curious if the commission was negotiable.

FYI: Renting and waiting is not going to be an option for me.

I'm working 2 jobs, a ft & a pt. I need help deciding which health insurance to pick. One thing to keep in mind-- I am currently pregnant (11 weeks), so need the BEST coverage recommendation.

*first health benefit-full time job: (single only)
-$28.16 weekly cost
-Deductible=$1300
-70% after deductible
-$30 copay then 100%
-$1,000,000 life time maximum benefit-- (i have no clue what that is)
*in this plan, there is a choice of ppo & non ppo.. what is the difference??

*second health benefit part time- (single)
+option 1
-$50 weekly cost
-Deductible = $250
-90% to $10,000 coinsurance
-$30 copay then 100%
-2,000,000 life time maximum

+option 2
-$43.00 weekly cost
-500 deductible
-90% to $10,000 coinsurance
-30 copay then 100%
-same 2,000,000 life time maximum.

+option 3
-35.00 weekly cost
-1000 deductible
-80% to $10,000 coinsurance
-30 copay then 100%

I don't know which insurance option i should go with.. i don't want to be cheap..

The media seems to pick up this "credit crunch" phrase as a way of summing up the downturn in many housing markets. In my view "valuation problem" would more acurately describes the situation.

I'm not pretending to be a genius, but I think this is simple. In the long-term (think decades) homes prices must average a ratio to medium household income; when this get's out of whack, it just has to come back to norm. Easy credit may be the cause, but "lack of credit" is not the problem. Investors make reasonable calculations when making loans, if they don't,,, well, they learn quick not to be a sucker. Anyway would you agree "housing valuation" should trump news headlines in regard to the housing market, not "credit crunch"?
Thoughtful replies apreciated.

Taxes related to TD AMERITRADE offers are your responsibility. Retail values totaling $600 or more during the calendar year will be included in your consolidated Form 1099.

Does this mean I will be reporting $600 as recieved income, and will be subject to appropriate income taxes?

I have not been able to find an answer to this problem so hopefully there's some tax gurus here that can help me out.

Here's the situation, these numbers are not accurate but should give an idea of the problem. Say I make 60k a year. The IRS says that medical expenses have to be at least 7% (?) of your income before they can be deducted. That would be $4200. I have payroll deduction for my medical insurance of $3000.00. That money is taken out pre-tax so that can't be used as a deduction. However I have $3000.00 of medical bills throughout the years. That is below the $4200.00 the IRS would allow for a deduction so I can't deduct it. However if I didn't have the medical insurance taken out of my paycheck pre-tax, that would give a total medical bills of $6000.00 and all of that would be deductable. I've spoken with my HR dept and they can't take the insurance out post tax. Is there anyway to deduct these additional medical expenses? Hopefully I explained this correctly.

1) Renting house from father for $1600/month for roughly 40 years
2) Renting house from father until we can afford to buy it (for roughly $500K+)

Does it make more sense to rent forever, or save up and buy?

If you need more info, just let me know.

Thank you for your input.

My wife and I bought a double house (and lived in half) in 98 for 72500. Wife died in 99, and I moved out and began renting out both halves of the house in December 99.

Last month I sold the house for what I owed, 52,500. (Yes, the market is that bad).

Can I write off the loss? Can someone direct me to a website that explains some of this stuff? I fully intend to see a tax professional, but want to understand what they tell me with some research on my own. NY State, by the way.

We have a seller held mtg and the taxes and insurance are escrowed into the payment. Do we add the new owner to the policy? Our fear is if the new owners get their own policy and just add us and we cancel ours, then our mtg co would find out since they pay our insurance through the escrow account.

Also, would the insurance payout pay the seller mtg first, buyer mtg second, buyer third if any left? Example: Seller mtg 120K, buyers mtg 149K, home worth 159K.

I have heard of textile design which is done on the computer, but is that designing clothes or fabric? - I'd really like to know a carrer I'd be good for and I would like it to also involve a little sewing (fashion design). any suggestions?

Pay is about equal.
Both can get specialized and earn more money.
Rad Techs do not have as much responsibility as far as lives go. (they can't accidentally grab the wrong med and inject someone with it) The schooling for a Rad Tech is not as grueling.

RN's can get their RN Associates in two years which I guess is the same with a Rad Tech.
RN's have a bigger variety of job's to choose from and a bigger variety of places they can work.
RN's can one day become traveling nurses.

And probably above and beyond all of that is also both a negative and a positive. That is that the cases that you see are sometimes very tragic and you feel both a sense of purpose but also very saddned while being and RN.

As far as meetings to make the company better. Everyone just follows the status quo. No one ever has any unique ideas on how we can make this organization better. They just sit there and wait for me to give them directions on what to do. Then they follow those directions word for word without asking any questions or making any improvements.

I just found out by a site search that my husband has a judgment against him for $700.00 for rent and damages to teh apartment he rented for 3 months. He moved homes and jobs. We were never notified of this small claims hearing. Since he failed to show up in February 06, the judge granted his landlord the full amount. (one of the damages was the toilet not working, but it stopped working a month after living there and the landlord never fixed it, now he says that it was working fine, etc.) anyway, we never paid this or knew we had to pay this. What should we do? Are they going to come looking for their money?? The case is still open with the court.

I got the shaft from some one who hit me in the rear who had insurance. They said I changed lanes quickly and then hit my brakes. It is true I changed lanes but it was a good five seconds later after I had to slow down. If I was not there he would have hit the car in front of me. HE HAD INSURANCE. The insurance would not pay. I could never resolve the problem because I could not find the person to serve the sepiana.

I'm totally confused right now. I work for a temp agency here in the Dallas Metroplex (OfficeTeam) and I called yesterday, and they said that if I was paid $14 an hour, the company that I'm currently temporarily employed at would have to pay around $7,500 to OfficeTeam to hire me.

IS THERE ANY WAY AROUND THIS?

I know that everything on here is free and that no one gets paid, but if you answer this question and it's a valid answer, and I get hired, I will pay you my ENTIRE FIRST PAYCHECK when I'm with the company. I could make way more money with this, so give me feedback, people. You could get more than $700...
